Dear Yuletide author,

hi and happy Yuletide <3

I hope the letter is clear and helpful, but don't hesitate to reach out through the mods if you have questions.

My AO3 handle is plumedy :> If you are here because you're considering treating me, I absolutely accept treats and am all shades of excited about that.
DNW the requested characters being in romantic/sexual relationships with each other. Background romantic and/or sexual relationships are ok, as are background mentions/descriptions of noncon.

DNW communism portrayed in a sympathetic light. No surprise!communist OCs or plot points, please. General class and class oppression themes ok.

-----------
II. Opt-ins (these are things you should feel free to include in your work if you like).

- Major character death, including death of requested characters

- Animal death and harm to animals

- Gore

- References to or descriptions of noncon

- Any POVs (including 1st and 2nd)

- Interactive fiction

- Crossovers and fusions, as long as I know the other fandom (anything I've ever requested in exchanges or written fic about goes)

III. General likes.
I'm a fan of intense, angsty, h/c-flavoured friendships. Sometimes my requests will skew fluffier, sometimes darker. In general, all I want is for the characters to be unquestionably devoted to each other. Specific interpretations are up to you!

My likes for platonic relationships:

- Character A steps in the line of fire/forces an attacker to focus on them instead of character B. There's a stand-off with B being absolutely terrified for A all the way through/not comprehending why A would risk themselves like that :D

- The only light in each other's darkness: two characters' lives are awful (for the moment or in general) and they're each other's only salvation. Especially a fan of the version where one character is drowning in their own grief/pain/anger and knows that the other character is the only person in the world who can help.

- Repressed stoics love each other too much to succeed at fully repressing their emotions.

- Characters angsting about being unworthy of and undeserving of their friend/characters believing that they're a harmful presence in their friend's life.

- Impulsive gestures of affection.

- Characters trying desperately to repress their affection and desire for someone's friendship because it is not socially/hierarchically appropriate.

- Hugs.

- Bedside vigils.

- Characters getting tearful despite themselves and being ashamed of it.

- Hand touching.

- Forehead kisses.

- Hand kisses, as an expression of extreme loyalty and/or gratitude.

- Meaningful gifts.

- Quasi-familial relationships; characters yearning for another to be their family, especially if it's because their original family was shit.

- Hurt/comfort, physical or emotional.

- The classic "A is terrified for B's life or wellbeing and this brings out Emotions" is a favourite.

- Characters feeling like All Is Right With The World, at least for a time, because their BFF is with them.

- Characters affirming each other's identities and providing support and friendship in that regard (ethnic, cultural, religious, gender, sexuality identities, etc).

- Hierarchical and/or social differences between characters.

- Character A believes character B is dead and is desperate/in total denial/suicidal/murderous over this.

- Character A hurts character B
(physically or emotionally, accidentally or because they were forced to) and angsts about it endlessly.

- Character A realizes that character B actually cares deeply for them and this causes them to be MindblownTM.

- Character A angsting because they're unsure if their affection for B is fully reciprocated.

- Characters A attempts to sacrifice themselves for the greater good and/or for character B and character B takes this Badly(TM).

- Characters tenderly taking care of each other's injuries.

- Characters protecting each other in dangerous scenarios.

- Characters eating/cooking food together. Food, drinks, tea & coffee - they're my catnip.

My narrative likes:

- Casefic - I'm a big fan of mysteries and crime solving (or of committing elaborate crimes, considering the nature of some of my canons...)

- Slice of life and character studies. Don't worry about writing these, I love them. If you want to write a gift consisting wholly of some minor hurt/comfort-y nonsense, I will enjoy it.

- In medias res, snippets that feel like outtakes from a bigger story

- Characters being badass and doing something cool, whether in combat or otherwise

- 5+1 things

- A sense of wonder and awe at the universe, whether from the characters themselves or from the narrative

- OTOH in darker stories, I like an us vs the world feel

- Loving descriptions of plants and other nature

- Music (mostly classical), art, literature, fashion, and architecture references

- Sciencey things. Whether they're scientifically plausible or handwavey, I love them!

- Human anatomy in any way, shape or form. This is my field of study

- Jewish and Eastern European stuff

- Food and cooking. Throw in a good description of a tasty dish, and I'm yours mind body and soul

- Cozy domestic scenes in general. Characters having a cup of tea with each other next to a fireplace after a hard day's work? Yes please

- On the other hand, Gothic shit. I'm weak for Gloomy Weather Reflecting The Hero's Mood and for dark forests and angsty philosophical conundrums and so forth. Convoluted flower symbolism and emotional repression ftw.

- If a character has a canon marginalized identity that is meaningful to them, or if you headcanon them as having one, I enjoy small nods to that in fic

And now to my requests!!

-----------
1. Murder Rooms. Requested characters: Joseph Bell and Arthur Conan Doyle.
Fandom-specific DNWs (Do Not Want): none.

As always, I will read literally anything you want to write about them! They one of my oldest brOTPs and I'm unhinged about their friendship.

I love how incredibly angsty they are about each other (and about everything else) and how their relationship helps them remain sane. I love that Bell makes Doyle tea to soothe him. I love that Doyle keeps writing him letters. I love Doyle's weirdo obsessive narration at the end of The White Knight Stratagem where he says he can't forget Bell. I love their quasi-familial relationship. I love how Victorian they are about it and how there are things they can just never say to each other (even though I think they should definitely say them in fic :D).

They're truly the light in each other's darkness and that's amazing.

I do love basically every other character in the series, too, so feel free to include any of them you like.
Some potential prompts:

- Something on the subject of Doyle's mental health and Bell's friendship just being an absolute lifeline for him. Drug issues (laudanum)? Suicidality? Passive suicidality? Just give me Doyle having a difficult time and coming to Bell about it/Bell noticing and Making Everything Right. Bonus points for Doyle angsting about how he doesn't deserve Bell's friendship and help, or just Bell in general >:D And Bell obviously having none of it.

- First realisation of affection! When do they actually notice that they love each other? Does that initially cause them discomfort/worry (they only have a professional relationship! They shouldn't get attached! Doyle already has a father!)?

- "I love you". I have faith in the fact that they can eventually get to a point where this is not a completely unthinkable thing to say lol. Maybe one of them thinks the other is dying, or maybe one of them is gravely injured, or maybe they're under the influence of something... :D Ooh, maybe Doyle is under the influence of something during one of his drug experiments! And then when he sobers up, he has to somehow make it clear that he did actually mean what he said.

- Doyle and getting into an actually happy romantic relationship! Possibly with a guy since I headcanon Doyle as bi. Doyle being afraid that Bell won't approve, and then Bell being super nice and supportive about Doyle's bisexuality in a way Doyle's own parents never would be >:)

- I'd love some riff on a Canon story. Not necessarily a full casefic, just an outtake or something that glosses over the details of the investigation is more than ok! Some of my favourite ACD canon stories are The Copper Beeches, The Hound, The Blue Carbuncle, and, of course, The Three Garridebs.

- On that subject, we've had a Reichenbach in the books but I feel a distinct lack of it in the TV series. Or, alternatively, a distinct lack of Doyle being presumed dead. Or both. Just, a situation where one of them has serious cause to think that the other has died, if even for a short while.

- Further on that subject, I love the implication that in this universe, Bell can read what amounts to Doyle's self-insert fanfic about him. When Doyle starts publishing the Sherlock Holmes stories, how does Bell feel/react to the Holmes & Watson relationship? Is he moved by the affection Doyle's characters have for each other?
Is he troubled because he believes he hasn't been as good for Doyle as Holmes is for Watson? Does he perhaps think of himself as a destructive or harmful influence because he's brought Doyle into this gruesome world, and in contrast to Holmes & Watson's relationship this perceived destructiveness upsets him all the more? :D

- Modern AU! Detective noir AU! I got a daemon AU before and it was splendid, I'd definitely go for another one! Coffee shop AU! Space AU! Someone stop me

-----------

2. 1954 Holmes. Requested characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson.

Fandom-specific DNWs (Do Not Want):

- Canon-typical bigoted stereotypes (I recognize this series has a few pretty racist episodes, but please don't riff on them; actually, if you depicted H & W being explicitly more sensitive about marginalization than the canon, that'd be nice).

- Any background ships involving Holmes. If you want to give Watson a LI of any gender, that's fine.

I'm obsessed with this series and I can't lie. The boyish, earnest, failboat-y Holmes portrayed by Ronald Howard is honestly my favourite Holmes ever. And H. Marion Crawford's BAMF temperamental but kind-hearted Watson who punches every villain in the face is also amazing. And I love how nice they are to their clients and to each other, and all their domesticity, drinking tea together, going on holidays together, you name it. They're so damn adorable.

So naturally I want ANGST >:D The Christmas Pudding episode really did something to me. Holmes being completely all over the place and flailing while clumsily lying to Watson in an attempt to protect him... That got me good.

Just give me them suffering horribly and being affectionate with each other and then a happy ending, and I will love you forever.

- Is there an injury? Is it a sickfic? Is it another instance of Holmes' life being threatened, like in The Christmas Pudding? You decide what torture to inflict on them :D

- Watson being hurt or in danger!! Perhaps due to attempting to sacrifice himself on Holmes' behalf. I just want Holmes to flail helplessly about this and be absolutely terrified out of his wits. He's never had such a close friend before and was not prepared for the Emotions.

- Riffs on the Canon are very welcome. My favourite stories are COPP, BLUE, and HOUN. And 3GAR is really awfully written, lol, but it has a special place in my heart for obvious reasons. And of course, takes on FINA and Reichenbach are always great.

- For this canon I would also be quite interested in various magic AUs and how their worldbuilding interacts with the Victorian society. Daemons? Platonic soulmates? Wingfic? Magical powers? How does this work in the Victorian era and how do Holmes and Watson interact within this context?

- I would also very happily read a modern AU of the series :D

-----------

5. Dr Joseph Bell and Arthur Conan Doyle series - David Pirie. Requested characters: Joseph Bell, Arthur Conan Doyle.

Fandom-specific DNWs (Do Not Want): none.

Oh I adore these books so much. They're so Gothic and iddily OTT and full of angst and philosophical musings on the nature of the Victorian era. There's so much potential for hurt/comfort. Bell and Doyle's relationship is so messy and yet offers so much hope to them. Doyle is constantly bitter about Bell but then when Bell is presumed dead, he basically becomes suicidal over it. I love it.

I just want them to work through at least some of their difficulties. They're so frustratingly repressed and traumatized and there's entirely too much miscommunication going on. They need to hug understand each more. They definitely need to hug though

anyway prompts!!!

- SO I just want Doyle to have a breakdown post-The Dark Water about Bell having been presumed dead. I feel like he'd keep it together for a while and present his regular nonchalant/snarky façade but then just have to hide in some dark corner and have a cry. Or maybe Bell is a bit more seriously hurt and Doyle has to keep a Bedside Vigil and that's what messes him up. Or maybe he's just having massive PTSD about the fact that he just witnessed what he thought was his dad BFF dying. Either way, he tries to be an uptight Victorian about it but eventually fails.

Also, one of the last conversations they had before the finale included Doyle blaming Bell for Elspeth's death, and I'm a sucker for people blaming themselves for something they said to a now-(presumed) dead loved one.

- A bit more exploration of Bell's moral qualities in this canon. I love the bit where he jumps out of his hiding place because he's too outraged about the predatory lending going on in front of them to keep silent. Doyle's feelings/reflections on this? While they have a lot of conflicts in these books, I love the idea that there's something in Bell that is so true and wise that it's like a guiding star to Doyle.

The bit where Bell nearly kills their antagonist and only stops because Doyle steps in. Doyle says in the narration that this was nearly more terrifying to him than when he'd thought that Bell would be killed. It especially intrigues me that Doyle seems to be mostly frightened for Bell, not at all for the man Bell is about to kill (lmao). Some exploration of this? I love characters being frightened for each other's souls/mental health, especially in fucked up circumstances where they should really be scared of other things instead. And, of course, there's also the implication that Doyle is concerned that the Doctor will suffer the legal consequences of the murder (while, again, not being at all troubled for the victim :D). The implied level of devotion and love in this scene is insane.

- Riffs on the Canon!! Excellent stuff!! As I have mentioned, my faves are COPP, BLUE, HOUN, and 3GAR, but really feel free to pick any of the original stories, I've read it all and am enthusiastic about any references to or remixes of them.

- Like with the TV series requests - maybe it is Doyle's SH stories that help them sort out their relationship somewhat? Bell reading them and seeing how much Doyle platonically pines for him lol.

- When Cream kidnaps Doyle, he also sexually assaults him (not necessarily full-on rape, maybe it's just touching and extreme sleaziness. But actual rape is fine too). Sexual assault recovery. And Bell is the only one who can get Doyle out of the dark pit of ensuing mental health and self-esteem issues, because he can be very sensitive when he needs to and because they love each other that much. Salvation and recovery through the power of friendship and kindness.

6. Hitman (Video Games). Requested characters - Agent 47, Diana Burnwood

Fandom-specific DNW (Do Not Want): 47 treating what Diana has done to him as a true betrayal, or vice versa (e.g.: 47 thinking "Diana betrayed me"). 47 worrying about how Diana must think him a traitor/Diana worrying about how 47 must think her a traitor is more than welcome, though.

Anyway I continue to remain in a very Hitman-shaped hole. I love these two SO MUCH ugh. I have played Hitman: Blood Money, Hitman: Absolution, and HITMANs 1 through 3. Haven't read the comic but I do broadly know what happens in it. Have read "Overachievers" and found it delightful.

I'm just so weak for their friendship and for how they trust each other absolutely even after having shot and poisoned each other a bunch of times... They're messed up but they're doing their best with the cards they're given, and I love every bit of it.

And I love that 47 is clearly more and more aware of experiencing emotions as the series goes on, even if he can't necessarily put a name to them.

It is obvious to me that 47 and Diana need to HUG. Or just. Quit being so damn repressed for a minute and express their affection for each other.

I headcanon 47 as autistic but I don't care if you write him as allistic, either, or if you just don't concern yourself with this either way.

I do like almost every secondary character in the franchise (Victoria, Lucas, Olivia), so feel free to include any of them if you think it appropriate.

Some potential prompts are:

- 47 and Diana reuniting immediately post-H3 and her hugging him and him not knowing how to handle that. I have long thought about Diana hugging him after the end cutscene, and him being absolutely error 404 about it and not knowing where to put his arms. Has he even been hugged before by anyone other than Lucas?

- 47 says he's not 47 anymore. What name does he choose and why? Does he just keep calling himself Tobias Rieper, or does he adopt a different pseudonym? Diana being nice to him about it and going out of her way to use his new name.

- Platonic soulmate marks?? I love them and I'm not picky about which ones! Red thread, writing on skin, symbols, or whatever else strikes your fancy <3

I'd love an exploration of just when they find out that they're soulmates and how it happens. Do they immediately know when they first meet, or is it a realisation that catches them unawares well into their partnership? I think 47 would be super insecure about whether Diana is his friend/platonic partner for his own sake or just because they're soulmates, and I'm here for that >:D

- Daemon AU. Ooh, maybe Diana's daemon is a bunny! Or a canary! And there's Meaningful Angst. And their daemons eventually snuggle each other and it makes them happy ajdvjfvekfv

- Something connected to the assassination of Diana's family? 47 trying to apologize to Diana about it? For more action-y stuff, maybe they're hunting someone connected to that, or perhaps someone tries to get them to kill a family of similar targets, or a dilemma arises about keeping a target's family alive. Featuring 47 doing some painful reflection, of course >:)

- Them buying or cooking each other food!! Maybe 47 is cooking something nice for her? Maybe Diana is cooking for him? Maybe he's just bringing her some treat he bought in a nearby shop? Maybe they're getting takeout together!!

I kind of randomly headcanon Diana as Jewish and would love her cooking/buying Jewish food for 47 (a nice challah or some hamantaschen idk :D), but anything else involving food will also absolutely capture my heart.

- Post-canon stuff. What are they up to immediately after H3? How has their relationship changed? Are they unsure of or fearful about anything?

1. Hitman. Requested relationship: Agent 47 & Diana Burnwood.
Fandom-specific Do Not Wants: 47, Diana, or the narrative treating anything they've done to each other as a real betrayal (e.g.: 47 thinking "Diana betrayed me"). 47 angsting about how Diana must think him a traitor/Diana angsting about how 47 must think her a traitor is more than welcome, though.

Requested mediums: Fanart, Fanfic.

Requested freeforms:
-
Alternate Universe - Soulmates
- Character A wields Character B's weapon to defend Character B
-
Character is comfortable to stim freely in front of friend
- Dehumanized human weapon can only show love through extreme loyalty
- Food as Affection
- A typically puts their own needs/preferences to one side; B pays attention to A's needs/preferences
- Hugs

Basically, feel free to combine any of the above, but you can find some specific prompts below if you'd like any! The prompts either are both fic- and art-compatible or have separate paragraphs for art and fic.

- Character A wields Character B's weapon to defend Character B - this just absolutely calls for Diana protecting 47 with his own silverballers. Please??

- Hugs - just draw/write them hugging. Any scenario, any setting, I go feral for it. <3 <3 <3 Is it a desperate, emotional, I-could've-lost-you hug?? Is it a tender, quiet hug? That is up to you!

Fic-specific: I have long thought about Diana hugging him when they reunite at the end of HITMAN 3, and him being absolutely error 404 about it and not knowing where to put his arms. Has he even been hugged before by anyone other than Lucas?

- Food as Affection - them buying or cooking each other food!!

- Alternate Universe - Soulmates - soulmate marks?? I love them and I'm not picky about which ones! Red thread, writing on skin, symbols, or whatever else strikes your fancy <3

Fic-specific: I'd love an exploration of just when they find out that they're soulmates and how it happens. Do they immediately know when they first meet, or is it a realisation that catches them unawares well into their partnership? I think 47 would be super insecure about whether Diana is his friend/platonic partner for his own sake or just because they're soulmates, and I'm here for that >:D

- Dehumanized human weapon can only show love through extreme loyalty - 47, obviously ♡( ◡‿◡ ) I just want him to come to the conscious realisation that he would kill and die for Diana and kind of struggle with it in the vein of, "what are these feelings?? Am I supposed to have these?? What does this mean?" I love him not being fully in touch with himself and not entirely understanding what it is he's experiencing or why he's so rabidly protective of this one woman. And he doesn't really know how to express it, so he just tries his best to show his loyalty through service. Pairs well with Dangerous morally grey person utterly loyal to person they see as good and kind as well as with Loyalty Kink - Us Against The World!

Art-specific: it's not a prompt that easily lends itself to art, but I'd be all over the place about 47 doing something reckless/dangerous for Diana, however you want to portray that. And maybe her being alarmed about it over the earpiece? <3

- A typically puts their own needs/preferences to one side; B pays attention to A's needs/preferences - you can pair this with the above or write/draw it as its own separate thing. Goes great with A believes the love they’re shown is conditional; they expect to be cast aside, as well as with Hurt/Comfort - Character Doesn't Expect Tenderness But Gets It Anyway. I feel like this should probably be primarily from Diana towards 47, but it doesn't have to be a one-way street - 47 can also show her care/tenderness she wouldn't expect. I think it'd be fantastic to see Diana take care of him in small ways (noticing some food he prefers, putting something in his mission loadout that will make him more personally comfortable, etc). And maybe tending to his injuries if he gets hurt (whether in a small or a big way) with a kind of tenderness he never expected? I can just imagine him being all flustered about it and thinking about how unnecessary and illogical it is to be extra gentle when fixing his injuries, but how for some inexplicable reason he loves it :D

- Character is comfortable to stim freely in front of friend - I headcanon 47 as autistic. If you're here for any of the other freeforms, you don't have to include this one, I don't mind if you think of him as allistic and/or just don't concern yourself with this either way. But I do love the idea. I think his stims would be very reserved and low-key, not noticeable at all, but I can imagine him feeling good about being able to stim in front of Diana. And her noticing it and not reacting negatively at all, and him noticing that she noticed it, and so forth :D

Art-specific: draw the stim!! Whether it's finger tapping or some kind of texture he likes touching or an item he fidgets with or whatnot. And Diana just looking at him affectionately about it <3

2. Star Trek: Discovery. Requested relationship: Michael Burnham & Saru.

Fandom-specific Do Not Wants: none.

Requested medium: Fanfic.

Requested freeforms:
-
Character A Attempts to Sacrifice Themselves But is Saved by Character B
-
Teaching a Serious Character How to be Teased
- Food as Affection
-
Hurt/Comfort - Character A Doesn’t Know How To Help Hurt B Because Of Their Nonhuman Biology

Saru & Michael are my precious blorbos and the vahar'ai scene where she cries over having to kill him and then they find out he doesn't have to die did Things to me. They're just so incredible together. Real found sibling vibes (canonically, even - he says Michael has been like a sister to him!). I love Saru's alienness and his transition from a big scared moose to someone who shoots spikes out of their face at enemies. Greatest character arc in ST since Spock, in my opinion.

- Hurt/Comfort - Character A Doesn’t Know How To Help Hurt B Because Of Their Nonhuman Biology - so I think this could be delightfully angsty and also vaguely funny. Just how much does Michael know about Kelpien anatomy and physiology? Considering that they're a pre-first contact species for a lot of the show, probably not that much :D I'd love some hurt!Saru and Michael trying her best to help him but having to consult him for lots of things because e.g. who knows where Kelpiens' livers are and if they even have livers, really?

Bonus points for Saru himself panicking because he doesn't actually know that much detail about his own organism either because he's not a doctor (and also his species has been gaslit for eons about how their bodies work).

- Character A Attempts to Sacrifice Themselves But is Saved by Character B - I think this would be a super hurt/comfort-y thing to write about Saru, who's not a naturally self-sacrificial type and very much wants to live. But if it was for other people, he would sacrifice himself, maybe especially after his vahar'ai. But Michael wouldn't let him. If you like, you can pair this up with Hurt/Comfort - Character A Doesn’t Know How To Help Hurt B Because Of Their Nonhuman Biology.

- Food as Affection - I'd love them to feed each other as a show of care! Does Michael get Saru many-many blueberries to enjoy? Does Saru make her some kind of special biscuits with Kelpien tea? Can be a story of its own or a part of a larger fic, as you prefer. I just want them to share tasty things and be cosy together and to love each other very much.

- Teaching a Serious Character How to be Teased - to be fair, I think they're both kind of terrible at this and awkwardly serious, the dorks. But maybe they could mutually teach each other how to be teased, slowly over the course of their relationship :D Would love this as a funny thing but with an undercurrent of fierce loyalty and seeing each other as found family, especially towards the end.

5. Dr Joseph Bell and Arthur Conan Doyle series - David Pirie. Requested relationships: Joseph Bell & Arthur Conan Doyle.

Fandom-specific Do Not Wants: none.

Requested mediums: Fanart, Fanfic.

Requested freeforms:
- Bedside Vigils

- Hugs
Aftermath - Character doesn't tell anyone they were tortured/raped; is found out anyway
- Accidental Soulbond (Remains Platonic)

- Hugs - *bangs pots and pans* I will do literally anything to see/read them hug. Pls. Whether it's Bell embracing Doyle or Doyle clinging onto shocked Bell, I just want them to hug it out. Either one of them could be injured (hence the hug) or they could just be hugging out of sheer excess of feeling.

- Accidental Soulbond (Remains Platonic) - for art, this could be either soulmarks (writing on skin, symbols, red thread, or whatever else your imagination settles on) or a more nebulous depiction of a soul-bond between them - maybe something ethereal tying them together, or some shared memory/image between them. Or it could be a more metaphorical take on the trope - e.g. them finding each other in the darkness using some kind of... soul-lantern.

Fic-specific: maybe that is how they sort out their difficulties!! It is hard to still be mired in miscommunication when you're literally soulbonded to your best friend/mentor/father figure. Bonus points for them initially taking a purely scientific curiosity in the bond, especially Bell, and then being tripped up by unexpected Emotions they're having about each other and their relationship.

- Bedside Vigils - one of them tenderly caring for the other after an illness or an injury. Plenty of canonical moments to choose from, but could also be something completely unrelated!! Bonus for Victorian medical tools lying about :D

Fic-specific: SO I just want Doyle to have a breakdown post-The Dark Water about Bell having been presumed dead. I feel like he'd keep it together for a while and present his regular nonchalant/snarky façade but then just have to hide in some dark corner and have a cry. Maybe Bell is a bit (or a lot!) more seriously hurt and Doyle has to keep a Bedside Vigil and that's what messes him up. He tries to be an uptight Victorian about it but eventually fails.

Also, one of the last conversations they had before the finale included Doyle blaming Bell for Elspeth's death, and I'm a sucker for people blaming themselves for something they said to a now-injured (or presumed dead - luckily, TDW features both :D) loved one.

- Aftermath - Character doesn't tell anyone they were tortured/raped; is found out anyway When Cream kidnaps Doyle, he also sexually assaults him (not necessarily full-on rape, maybe it's just touching and extreme sleaziness. But actual rape is fine too). Sexual assault recovery. And Bell is the only one who can get Doyle out of the dark pit of ensuing mental health and self-esteem issues, because he can be very sensitive when he needs to and because they just love each other that much. Salvation and recovery through the power of friendship and kindness. Goes great with Only Char A’s Friendship Can Help B Recover From Trauma and with Loyalty Kink - Us Against The World. Bonus points for Doyle thinking of Bell as the only light in the darkness and wondering why Bell bothers with him at all >:D

Art-specific: if you can portray this specific scenario as an artwork - whether the moment of realisation or a small comic, maybe - that'd be fantastic! But I'll also be delighted with just hurt/comfort scenes where the torture/SA remains an implication, or maybe some horror-ish torture/SA sequences as flashes/little bits of the artwork, and then a snippet of recovery/realisation in the middle?

6. Dishonored. Requested relationship: Daud & Billie Lurk.

Fandom-specific Do Not Wants: Daud being abusive to the Whalers/the Whalers being loyal to Daud primarily out of fear. It's a fucked up setting and a fucked up environment, and Daud is definitely scary, but I do feel they have genuine love and loyalty for him.

Requested mediums: Fanart, Fanfic.

Requested freeforms:
Characters Meet in the Afterlife
- Char A plans out a jailbreak to save Char B from the Afterlife
- Hugs

I love Billie & Daud a lot for how much they love each other and how much Daud wants Billie to be proud of him even though they're all sorts of messed up and broken. I definitely went on a murder spree in DOTO after Daud's death as a roleplaying thing as I feel that even merciful!Billie might lose her cool after that for a while.

I love them for the promise and the hope there is in their relationship even in the darkest parts of their lives.

- Characters Meet in the Afterlife - idk I've just wanted to see them meet again post-canon for as long as I remember. I have this idea of some post-Void afterlife, maybe a temporary one, that is a bit like an idealised version of Karnaca. There are Tyvian pears and fig wine and sun-heated white stone architecture and nothing hurts... Maybe there are other dead characters there too that Billie would like to meet - Deirdre, for instance. Maybe they're all dead at that point and all there - Daud, Sokolov, Emily. But primarily I just want Daud and Billie to have at least some rest and softness, even in death :')

Up to you whether this is a result of Billie dying or a result of Char A plans out a jailbreak to save Char B from the Afterlife. If it's the latter, that could be very fun (and delightfully angsty) to explore! If a Void afterlife still exists post-DOTO, I feel like Billie would definitely be unable to just leave Daud there and would try to either return him to life or to give him a more merciful afterlife/death. Maybe she would somehow work together with the Outsider for this purpose.

I would prefer no Billie and/or Daud being stuck in the Void forever as that's too bleak for me, so either Daud gets resurrected (and is probably now a grumpy grandpa to the Outsider lol) or he moves on to something kinder and softer.

There's a great big hug and they're heart-achingly happy to see each other. They spend some time hanging out wherever they end up (if it's not a resurrected!Daud story, then in the idealised Karnaca-like Afterlife I described in the art bit?). Maybe there are also other loved ones there.

You could leave them with a promise of future meeting(s) (whether in death or in life - e.g. could be a living Billie telling Daud that she'll see him again after she dies) or it could be goodbye forever (that would wreck me but I wouldn't mind, it'd be a good pain).

- Hugs - can be combined with the above or drawn/written entirely separately! I really want them to have a great big hug and be all intense about it. Maybe they're clinging onto each other, or just squeezing each other tight, or one of them is tearful (or both) while the other cannot see :D

II. Opt-ins (these are things you should feel free to include in your work if you like).

- Major character death, including death of requested characters

- Animal death and harm to animals

- Gore

- References to or descriptions of noncon

- Abuse

- Mental illness

- Physical illness of any sort (this includes pandemics and epidemics)

- Harm to children

- Identity headcanons (gender, including nb; sexuality, including ace; ethnicity and religion; neurodivergence)

- In-universe bigotry of any kind

- Any POVs (including 1st and 2nd)

- Any tenses

- Generally any non-traditional writing devices

- Interactive fiction

- Crossovers and fusions, as long as I know the other fandom (anything I've ever requested in exchanges or written fic about goes)

-----------

- Repressed stoics love each other too much to succeed at fully repressing their emotions

- Characters angsting about being unworthy of and undeserving of their friend/characters believing that they're a harmful presence in their friend's life

- Impulsive gestures of affection

- Characters trying desperately to repress their affection and desire for someone's friendship because it is not socially/hierarchically appropriate. They are Not Good At It

- Hugs

- Bedside vigils

- Characters getting tearful despite themselves and being ashamed of it

- Hand touching

- Forehead kisses

- Hand kisses, as an expression of extreme loyalty and/or gratitude

- Meaningful gifts

- Quasi-familial relationships; characters yearning for another to be their family, especially if it's because their original family was shit

- Hurt/comfort, physical or emotional

- The classic "A is terrified for B's life or wellbeing and this brings out Emotions" is a favourite

- Characters feeling like All Is Right With The World, at least for a time, because their BFF is with them

- Characters affirming each other's identities and providing support and friendship in that regard (ethnic, cultural, religious, gender, sexuality identities, etc)

- Hierarchical and/or social differences between characters

- Character A believes character B is dead and is desperate/in total denial/suicidal/murderous over this

- Character A hurts character B
(physically or emotionally, accidentally or because they were forced to) and angsts about it endlessly

- Character A realizes that character B actually cares deeply for them and this causes them to be MindblownTM

- Character A angsting because they're unsure if their affection for B is fully reciprocated

- Characters A attempts to sacrifice themselves for the greater good and/or for character B and character B takes this Badly(TM)

My narrative likes:

- Slice of life and character studies. Don't worry about writing these, I love them. If you want to write a gift consisting wholly of some minor hurt/comfort-y nonsense, I will enjoy it.

- Casefic - I'm a big fan of mysteries and crime solving (or of committing elaborate crimes, considering the nature of some of my canons...)

Fandom-specific DNWs: none.

I've had this brOTP for a very long time and honestly I would read absolutely anything about them? I don't even care, you could write 1k words of them window shopping and I'd be happy.

I love how incredibly angsty they are about each other (and about everything else) and how their friendship helps them remain sane. I love that Bell makes Doyle tea to soothe him. I love that Doyle keeps writing him letters. I love Doyle's weirdo obsessive narration at the end of The White Knight Stratagem where he says he can't forget Bell. I love their father and son relationship and how even that is kind of messed up because Doyle already has an actual father and being all "this is now my dad" about his professor is not exactly hierarchically appropriate. Even if he really wants to.

I do love basically every other character in the series, too, so feel free to include any of them you like.
Some potential prompts:

- Christmas gifts. Doyle and/or Bell painstakingly choosing a gift for the other. Hearteyes.jpg.

- They've never hugged in the series and I feel that this is a crime. So, their first hug. Why, how, and where did it happen? I'm ok with you either interpreting the series to mean that they literally never hugged because they're so repressed (and so setting the story post-canon) or assuming that they did but behind the scenes. Either is great.

- Doyle and getting into an actually happy romantic relationship! Possibly with a guy since I hc Doyle as bi. Bell being super nice and supportive about it in a way Doyle's own parents never would be >:)

-----------

2. 1954 Holmes. Requested relationship: Sherlock Holmes & John Watson.

Fandom-specific DNWs:

So naturally I want ANGST >:D Well, not necessarily wall to wall angst and nothing else - fluff and hurt/comfort are more than welcome too. But The Christmas Pudding episode really did something to me. Holmes being completely all over the place and flailing while clumsily lying to Watson in an attempt to protect him... That got me good.

Just give me them being affectionate with each other and angsty and then a happy ending, and I will love you forever.

- Is there an injury? Is it a sickfic? Is it another instance of Holmes' life being threatened, like in The Christmas Pudding? You decide what torture to inflict on them :D

- Again, like with Murder Rooms, riffs on the Canon are very welcome.

- Again, riffs on the Canon!! Excellent stuff!! As I have mentioned above, my faves are COPP, BLUE, HOUN, and 3GAR, but really feel free to pick any of the original stories, I've read it all and am enthusiastic about any references to or remixes of them.

6. Young Alchemist - Ciel Inferno. Requested relationships: Indigo & Bingus.

Fandom-specific DNW: Bingus dying.

This is such an absolutely delightful and heartwarming little short. It gives me cute aggression lol

I'd like to see more about Indigo's relationship with Bingus!

- An exploration of Indigo's identity and how they came to realise who they were and what they wanted + what they felt/thought about Bingus' potential reaction to this would be great. That hug absolutely undid me. Indigo was so unsure of themselves and panicked when they saw Bingus come in!!

- A story from Bingus' POV on the same subject? Maybe they (we actually don't know Bingus' gender either lol) realised something, maybe they didn't.

- Or if you don't want to do something focussed on the gender aspect of things, I would love a story (either pre- or post-canon) about Bingus and Indigo doing alchemist things together/going on adventures/just having a good day. (Or a bad day, for that matter, since that lends itself to hurt/comfort >:D). Them gathering ingredients together? Investigating a mystery? Having to deal with some kind of Big Bad/existentially threatening event?

- Ooh, maybe a timeskip where Indigo has grown up?? What if they become an alchemist in their own right and now there's uncertainty about whether they and Bingus will have to part ways, and angst!! And emotional h/c!

While the short is styled as a somewhat childish/humorous cartoon, I'd really enjoy a darker/more "grown-up" take on it, too. If you want to write a hardboiled noir AU or some kind of really heavy angst, I'll get a huge kick out of that as well. Or you can keep it light and whimsical and appeal to my love of fluff instead!! It is up to you.

I use they/them pronouns for Indigo here, but actually I don't mind. Nb people use all sorts of pronouns, I assume same is true of nb cats. You could give Indigo he or she pronouns if you like, or mix and match.

Likewise, Bingus can be of any gender. Male, female, also nb, whatever floats your boat.

And now to my requests!!

-----------

1. Heart of a Dog - Mikhail Bulgakov. Requested characters: Ivan Arnoldovich Bormenthal and Filipp Filippovich Preobrazhensky.

Fandom-specific DNWs:

DNW either of the requested characters being actually killed by the regime within the story. Imprisonment is ok as long as they're no longer imprisoned by the end.

This was my baby's first brOTP back in the day. I am still!! So fond of them!!! They're just, ah. Their whole old Russian intelligentsia thing. Bormenthal's worshipfulness towards Preobrazhensky. Preobrazhensky's awkwardness about it. That bit when he's not entirely sure how to react when Bormenthal proclaims his loyalty to him and kisses him on the moustache!
Bormenthal offering to kill for Preobrazhensky's sake and to essentially sacrifice himself to the regime!! Preobrazhensky telling him he won't allow it!!!!!!

I could probably recap the whole thing if I kept talking about all the things I love about them.

Mostly, I just want something about them being affectionate with and angsty about each other. I'd like the ending to be on the hopeful side, but bittersweet endings are great, it doesn't have to be 100% HEA. Realistically, considering the era, it can't really be a HEA anyhow. Although they could just leave the USSR altogether, of course (but that would also be bittersweet in its own way).

- One thing I think it would be fun to do is to write a post-canon story where they do their best to deal with the emotional aftermath. And maybe there's some domesticity with Sharik as their shared pet!

- Another idea is to fast-forward a bit into the future and have Bormenthal obtain his doctorate. There could be some fun changes in the dynamic and angst about the possibility that they will now have to part ways and so forth <3 And there's of course a little celebration and Preobrazhensky is so proud of him,,,,

- For darker takes, you could get the OGPU take a direct interest and have Preobrazhensky and/or Bormenthal interrogated or under surveillance for a while.

- Or you could do an AU of some kind, I'm always up for that! Magical realism, daemons, platonic soulmates, noir, anything goes.

-----------

2. Hitman. Requested characters: Diana Burnwood and Agent 47.

Fandom-specific DNWs:

DNW anything 47 and Diana have done to each other being treated like a real betrayal by the other character or by the narrative. It's more than welcome for them to angst about the things they've done, though, and fear that the other considers themselves betrayed!

DNW mentions of 47 being in any romantic relationships.

I'm just so weak for their friendship and for how they trust each other even after having shot and poisoned each other a bunch of times...

- 47 says he's not 47 anymore. What name does he choose and why? Does he just keep calling himself Tobias Rieper, or does he adopt a different pseudonym? Diana being nice to him about it and going out of her way to use his new name.

- 47 and Diana reuniting immediately post-H3 and her hugging him and him not knowing how to handle that. That's it. That's the prompt.

- Daemon AUs, platonic soulmate AUs, any AUs you want, I'll eat it all with a spoon.

- Role reversal AU? Diana as the assassin and 47 as the handler! I imagine Diana to be quite proactive and creative in the field, specifically in ways that reflect her moral judgement. Meanwhile, 47 would be all about efficiency, at least to begin with. Snippets of moments showing the progress of their relationship in such an AU?

- Post-canon stuff. What are they up to immediately after H3? How has their relationship changed? Are they unsure of or fearful about anything?

3. Murder Rooms. Requested characters: Joseph Bell and Arthur Conan Doyle.

- Modern AU! Detective noir AU! I got a daemon AU before and it was splendid, I'd definitely go for another one! Coffee shop AU! Space AU! Someone stop me

- Doyle and getting into an actually happy romantic relationship! Possibly with a guy since I hc Doyle as bi. Bell being super nice and supportive about it in a way Doyle's own parents never would be >:)

-----------

4. 1954 Holmes. Requested relationship: Sherlock Holmes & John Watson.

Fandom-specific DNWs:
- Jam Watson, although with this canon I feel like this almost doesn't need to be specified.

Again, like with Murder Rooms, riffs on the Canon are very welcome. My favourite stories are COPP, BLUE, and HOUN. And 3GAR is really awfully written, lol, but it has a special place in my heart for obvious reasons. And of course, takes on FINA and Reichenbach are always great.

For this canon I would also be quite interested in various magic AUs and how their worldbuilding interacts with the Victorian society. Daemons? Platonic soulmates? Wingfic? Magical powers? How does this work in the Victorian era and how do Holmes and Watson interact within this context?

I would also very happily read a modern AU of the series :D

5. The Murder Rooms book series - David Pirie. Requested relationships: Joseph Bell & Arthur Conan Doyle.

Fandom-specific DNWs: none.

Possibly Bell specifically drags Doyle along on a case that involves someone else being sexually violated so that Doyle and the victim could offer each other support and realize they're not alone.

- SO I just want Doyle to have a breakdown post-The Dark Water about Bell having been presumed dead. I feel like he'd keep it together for a while but then just have to hide in some dark corner and have a cry for a while.

- Again, riffs on the Canon!! Excellent stuff!! As I have mentioned above, my faves are COPP, BLUE, HOUN, and 3GAR, but really feel free to pick any of the original stories, I've read it all and am enthusiastic about any references to or remixes of them.

Dear FFFX author,

My AO3 username is plumedy. This is my first FFFX and I'm super hyped for it ^---^ I hope that you're having a good time, too, and that you end up getting the gift of your dreams. And now I'm going to settle in with some spiced apple tea and write you a letter.

Here are some of my general preferences:

1. DNWs.

- Smut and eroticized noncon. I don't mind sex or characters having sexual thoughts if it's clearly relevant to the story or adds something to the characterization (for exceptions, see specific fandoms).

- Death of requested characters.

2. Opt-ins (these are things you should feel free to include in your work if you like).

- AUs (wingfic, soulmates,  coffee shop, etc. Go wild)

- Animal death and harm to animals

- Gore

- References to or descriptions of noncon

- Abuse

- Mental illness

- Physical illness of any sort (this includes pandemics and epidemics)

- Harm to children

- Identity headcanons (including trans, nb, and ace)

- In-universe bigotry of any kind

- Any POVs (including 1st and 2nd)

- Any tenses

- Generally any non-traditional writing devices

- For art, there's nothing I mind either; any style and approach is welcome

3. General likes.

I'm a fan of intense, angsty, h/c-flavoured friendships, which is what most all of my requests will be. Sometimes they will skew fluffier, sometimes darker. In general, all I want is for the characters to be unquestionably devoted to each other. Specific interpretations are up to you!

My likes for platonic relationships:

- Repressed stoics love each other too much to succeed at fully repressing their emotions

- Characters angsting about being unworthy of and undeserving of their friend/characters believing that they're a harmful presence in their friend's life

- Impulsive gestures of affection

- Characters trying desperately to repress their affection and desire for someone's friendship because it is not socially/hierarchically appropriate. They are Not Good At It

- Hugs

- Characters getting tearful and being ashamed of it

- Character A hurts character B and angsts about it endlessly (physically or emotionally, accidentally or because they were forced to)

- Character A realizes that character B actually cares deeply for them and this causes them to be MindblownTM

- Character A angsting because they're unsure if their affection for B is fully reciprocated

My narrative and art likes:

- Slice of life and character studies. Don't worry about writing these, I love them. If you want to write 10k words of some minor hurt/comfort-y nonsense, I will enjoy it.

- Casefic - I'm a big fan of mysteries and crime solving (or of committing elaborate crimes, considering the nature of some of my canons...)

- Music (mostly classical), art, literature, fashion, and architecture references

- Sciencey things. Whether they're scientifically plausible or handwavey, I love them!

- Human anatomy in any way, shape or form. This is my field of study

- Food and cooking. Throw in a good description/depiction of a tasty dish, and I'm yours mind body and soul

- For art specifically, I like symbolism in general. It's my catnip tbh

- If a character has a canon marginalized identity that is meaningful to them, or if you headcanon them as having one, I like small nods to that in art/fic

And now to my requests!!

I. Hitman (Video Games). Requested relationship: Agent 47 & Diana Burnwood.

Fandom-specific DNWs:
- Anything 47 and Diana have done to each other being treated like a real betrayal by the other character or by the narrative. 47 and Diana angsting about the things they did to each other (but finding that the other one doesn't blame them and still trusts them) is more than welcome <3 <3 <3

Anyway I recently fell into a very Hitman-shaped hole. I love these two SO MUCH ugh. I have played Hitman: Blood Money, Hitman: Absolution, and HITMANs 1 through 3. Haven't read the comic but I do broadly know what happens in it. Have read "Overachievers" and found it delightful.

I'm just so weak for their friendship and for how they trust each other even after having shot and poisoned each other a bunch of times... They're messed up but they're doing their best with the cards they're given, and I love every bit of it.

- Something connected to the assassination of Diana's family? Maybe they're hunting someone connected to that, or perhaps someone tries to get them to kill a family of similar targets, or a dilemma arises about keeping a target's family alive, or something like that. Featuring 47 doing some painful reflection, of course >:)

- Role reversal AU? Diana as the assassin and 47 as the handler! I imagine Diana to be quite proactive and creative in the field, specifically in ways that reflect her moral judgement. Meanwhile, 47 would be all about efficiency, at least to begin with. I can see some conflict arising from this.

- Daemon AUs, platonic soulmate AUs, any AUs you want, I'll eat it all with a spoon. Ooh, maybe Diana's daemon is a bunny! Or a canary! And there's Meaningful Angst. And their daemons eventually snuggle each other and it makes them happy ajdvjfvekfv

- Post-canon stuff. What are they up to immediately after H3? How has their relationship changed? Are they unsure of or fearful about anything?

- 47 says he's not 47 anymore. What name does he choose and why? Does he just keep calling himself Tobias Rieper, or does he adopt a different pseudonym? Diana being nice to him about it and going out of her way to use his new name. This is not necessarily enough for an entire story, but you could incorporate it into another plot if you'd like :>

II. Dragon Age (Video Games). Requested relationships: Inquisitor & Blackwall; Female Lavellan & Solas.

Fandom-specific DNWs:

- Inky rejecting Blackwall over his betrayal/leaving him in prison.

- Inky being super angry at & vengeful about Solas' actions.

Inky & Blackwall: I'm just really into this friendship, specifically in a way where Blackwall keeps angsting about being awful and unworthy of the Inquisitor. And where he's super devoted to Inky and protective of them. The scene in the Val Royeaux prison did Things to me. How are they so heartwrenchingly emotional about each other?? UGH.

I will read most anything about them as long as it's friendshippy. I just want them to spend time together and for Inky to be affectionate towards him. That said, here are some potential prompts:

- Inky accompanies Blackwall to meet with one of the men Blackwall betrayed. Maybe he's in some difficulty and they need to help him or something. Cue Inky being badass and kind to Blackwall and Blackwall being all over the place about it. The guy they're helping definitely approves of Blackwall's Actually Decent Friend, even if he still doesn't approve of Blackwall lol.

- Blackwall worrying about the Anchor and/or angsting when Inky comes back from their meeting with Solas without an arm. Not necessarily as a standalone story, but maybe as a part of a larger plot :)

- Blackwall and Inky post-Trespasser doing some adventuring. I don't buy a befriended!Blackwall just up and leaving Inky for good. They definitely keep meeting up. Maybe they didn't initially plan to and there was an emotional farewell, but their love for each other something keeps bringing them together and they're secretly very happy about that ;)

I usually play as female Adaar but I don't mind other backstories for the Inquisitor, either.

Inky&Solas: so. Solas angsting because Inky made him see other people as people. Because Inky IS a person. Solas just being completely all over the place about it and being unable to handle it. Inky and Solas post-Trespasser. INKY REDEEMING SOLAS THROUGH THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP.

Okay, I realize THIS would probably take a whole other game's worth of plot. So all I really want is an optimistic ending, where the fact that Solas is on his way to changing his mind is heavily implied.

I just want them to love each other like siblings and be very angsty about it ugh.

Befriended Solas' dialogue at the end of Trespasser in response to Inky saying that she'll redeem him especially broke into my house and stole my plants.

I'm a big fan of the "Do you have a moment?" cutscene too. Like obviously Solas is being super racist but also I adore it. I think he's deluding himself a lot in this one. Compare what he says about the Qunari as a people (that they're savage and brutish) to his dialogue reminiscing about the Qunari baker he saw in the Fade, for instance. He's clearly very fond of individual people and fully capable of empathy. He just tries really hard to deny this because acknowledging that he likes people will throw a serious wrench into his plan. But in this cutscene, he can't contain himself because of the Inquisitor and how much he's come to respect her, and the truth comes spilling out, even if he's still being a jerk about the Inquisitor's race while he's at it.

This is what really gets me about their relationship, that the Inquisitor caused him to see others as people through the sheer power of being a great person. And I think even as he comes to realize that he does see all the current inhabitants of Thedas as people, he still thinks of the Inquisitor as exceptional in the sense that she did to him what thousands of others could not.

III. Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes. Requested relationship: Joseph Bell & Arthur Conan Doyle (Murder Rooms).

For the purposes of this fandom, I waive the "smut and eroticized noncon" DNW as I feel it may be too restrictive if you want to touch on the topic of sexual attraction (such as if writing Doyle as bi). Just make a good faith effort to not write me a PWP, and we're good. I trust you. Handle this as you see fit.

Fandom-specific DNWs: none.

I've had this brOTP for a very long time and honestly I would read absolutely anything about them? I don't even care, you could write 10k words of them window shopping and I'd be happy.

- I'd love some riff on a Canon story. A version of The Hound set in the Scottish Highlands? A bleaker and more RealisticTM version of The Copper Beeches (this is my favourite SH story and I love Violet Hunter)? A Christmassy Blue Carbuncle remix?

Or maybe we could have Three Garridebs >:D

- We've had a Reichenbach in the books but I feel a distinct lack of it in the TV series. Or, alternatively, a distinct lack of Doyle being presumed dead. Or both. Just, one of them fake dying for whatever reason and the other one being AngstyTM about it.

Bell being super nice and supportive about it in a way Doyle's own parents never would be >:) Bell being Doyle's best man at a wedding! Possibly a secret wedding if his partner is a man. But still. A wedding. And Bell being there.

- Them reuniting post-TWKS! They seem so heartbroken when they part and then Doyle proceeds to obsess over Bell like there's not tomorrow, lol. Maybe he believes they won't meet again! Maybe Bell believes Doyle wouldn't want to meet him again! Because basically all his presence ever did was get Doyle's girlfriend killed and then drag him into a bunch of super depressing cases that were bad for his mental health, right? >:) But now they HAVE to work on a new case together, and it's distinctly AngstyTM.

IV. 1954 Holmes. Requested relationship: Sherlock Holmes & John Watson.

Fandom-specific DNWs:
- Jam Watson, although with this canon I feel like this almost doesn't need to be specified.

So naturally I want ANGST >:D Well, not necessarily wall to wall angst and nothing else - fluff and hurt/comfort are more than welcome too.

V. The Murder Rooms book series - David Pirie. Requested relationships: Joseph Bell & Arthur Conan Doyle.

- Reverse Reichenbach. We've seen Doyle's reaction to Bell fake dying, and it was spectacular. How about Bell's reaction to Doyle fake dying for whatever reason? >:D Does he go on a murderous rampage against the perps? Sink into depression? Go full-on denial?

- Again, riffs on the Canon!! Excellent stuff!! As I have mentioned above, my faves are COPP, BLUE, HOUN, and 3GAR, but really feel free to pick any of the original stories, I've read it all and am enthusiastic about any references to them.

VI. Original Work. Requested relationship: Mentor & Their Protégé.

Fandom-specific DNWs: the central relationship being super toxic. Moderately or even strongly messed-up is fine, just don't make the relationship emotionally destructive to them and don't make it better for them to split up than to stay together.

Basically just put this into a cup together with some of my general likes, shake it, and give me whatever comes out. This dynamic in all its iterations is my silver bullet, I will adore whatever you write for me.

The genders of the characters are not important - write me m&f, m&m, f&f, nb&nb, or whatever else you yourself may enjoy. They also don't have to be human. Any alien species or interdimensional beings are more than welcome :D

The ages are also not super important - any developmental stage from, like, 12 human years upwards is acceptable.

Some potential setting and plot ideas:

- They're dead. Maybe they're ghosts, maybe they exist in some kind of afterlife dimension. They're trying to resolve some kind of unfinished business and inadvertently end up befriending each other in the process. The mentor instructs the protege in the Ways of Being Dead or in Navigating the Dangers of the Afterlife.

- They're space spies, doing recon and procuring intelligence for their faction. An older alien and a young human. The alien slowly comes to realize that Humans Are Not So Bad, Actually. Or maybe it's only this specific human that they now seem inexplicably fond of in spite of the fact that humans are fragile and rather prone to dying...

- The mentor is actually some minor local deity but their protege doesn't know that. The deity just walks about in human form one day when they run into a younger human and befriend them. At first they just didn't mention being a deity, but now this omission has spiralled out of control and they don't know how to even bring it up.

Dear author,

My AO3 username is plumedy. As an almost-exclusively gen creator and reader, this exchange is such a happy place for me. I love the sound of so many of these freeforms so much!! I'm honestly so hyped you could probably just send me a blurry picture of an expired bag of walnuts and I'd love it.

That said, here is some general information about my tastes:

1. DNWs.

- For this exchange, I DNW only major character death (meaning requested characters - other characters can die). Otherwise, see my requested fandoms for fandom-specific DNWs.

2. Opt-ins. (these are things you should feel free to include in your work if you like).

- AUs (wingfic, soulmates,  coffee shop, etc. Go wild)
- Animal death and harm to animals
- Gore
- Descriptions or depictions of noncon
- Abuse
- Mental illness
- Physical illness of any sort (this includes pandemics and epidemics)
- Harm to children
- Identity headcanons (including trans, nb, and ace)
- In-universe bigotry of any kind
- Any POVs (including 1st and 2nd)
- Any tenses
- Generally any non-traditional writing devices
- For art, there's nothing I mind either; any style and approach is welcome
- Crossovers and fusions (with fandoms I'm familiar with).

3. General likes.

For the purposes of Gen Freeform, it's a bit redundant to say that I'm a fan of platonic relationships, but I am. Specifically, I'm a fan of intense, angsty, h/c-flavoured friendships, which is what most all of my requests will be. Sometimes they will skew fluffier, sometimes darker. In general, all I want is for the characters to be unquestionably devoted to each other and for their relationship to be good for their wellbeing rather than not. Specific interpretations are up to you!

My likes for platonic relationships:
- Repressed stoics love each other too much to succeed at fully repressing their emotions
- Characters angsting about being unworthy of/undeserving of their friend
- Impulsive physical gestures of affection
- Characters trying desperately to repress their affection and desire for friendship because it is not socially/hierarchically appropriate. They are Not Good At It
- Hugs
- Characters getting tearful and being ashamed of it
- Hand touching
- Forehead kisses
- Hand kisses, as an expression of extreme loyalty and/or gratitude
- Meaningful gifts
- Quasi-familial relationships; characters yearning for another to be their family, especially if it's because their original family was shit
- Hurt/comfort, physical or emotional
- The classic "A is terrified for B's life or wellbeing and this brings out Emotions" is a favourite

- Characters affirming each other's identities and providing support and friendship in that regard (ethnic, cultural, religious, gender, sexuality identities, etc)

My narrative and art likes:

And now to my requests!!

I. Hitman (Video Games). Requested relationship: Agent 47 & Diana Burnwood.

Requested freeforms: accidental platonic soulbond, Alternate Universe - Daemons, Awkward and Unconventional Gestures of Friendship, Best Friends Have Bad Ideas Together, Building A New Life, Gift Giving, Gratuitous descriptions of hugging, Hanging Out Drinking Tea, Hurt/Comfort - Character Doesn't Expect Tenderness But Gets It Anyway, Intelligent Characters Enthusing Over Learning New Things (Especially From Each Other), Platonic Soulmates, Refusing to believe a loved one is dead, Take me instead, Rehumanization

Fandom-specific DNWs: anything 47 and Diana have done to each other being treated like a real betrayal by the other character or by the narrative. 47 and Diana angsting about the things they did to each other (but finding that the other one doesn't blame them and still trusts them) is more than welcome <3 Also, DNW any references to 47 having romantic/sexual relationships or expressing unambiguous attraction.

You don't have to take HITMAN 3 into account when writing/drawing for me if you haven't played it - I'm not bothered. Also feel free to take the original continuity into account or disregard it, whatever your prefer.

I'm just so weak for their friendship and for how they trust each other even after having shot and poisoned each other a bunch of times... They're kind of messed up but they're doing their best with the cards they're given, and I love every bit of it.

Honestly I mostly just want them to HUG. Or anything else on my list of freeforms. With great and awkward tenderness. Feel free to write/draw them having tea or giving each other gifts or exposing their platonic soulmate marks or whatever else you like. I will be delighted with any of it.

I headcanon 47 as autistic but I don't care if you write him as allistic, either, or if you just don't concern yourself with this either way.

I do like almost every secondary character in the franchise (Victoria, Lucas, Olivia), so feel free to include any of them if you think it appropriate.

II. Dragon Age (Video Games). Requested relationship: Female Inquisitor & Blackwall | Thom Rainier (Dragon Age).
Requested freeforms:
Awkward and Unconventional Gestures of Friendship, Angst, Angst With a Happy Ending, A defends B/argues on B's behalf, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Epic Friendship Slowburn, Families of Choice, Gift Giving, Gratuitous descriptions of hugging, Hanging Out Drinking Tea, Hurt/Comfort - Character Doesn't Expect Tenderness But Gets It Anyway,  Protectiveness - Character being protected isn't used to being cared about, Refusing to believe a loved one is dead, Take me instead

Fandom-specific DNWs: Inky rejecting Blackwall over his betrayal/leaving him in prison.

I'm just really into this friendship, specifically in a way where Blackwall keeps angsting about being awful and unworthy of the Inquisitor. And where he's super devoted to Inky and protective of her. The scene in the Val Royeaux prison did Things to me. Feel free to take any of my freeforms and take it wherever you're inspired to with this in mind.

Maybe Inky gets injured and Blackwall absolutely Loses His Goddamn Mind over this. Maybe they're just drinking tea together or giving each other gifts! (There have to be celebrations of some kind in the DA universe, right? There must be something in the lore I'm forgetting...) Maybe they're hugging. Maybe Inky is presumed dead and Blackwall is all over the place. Maybe all of the above ^----^

For art, any gestures/symbols of friendship (undertones of angst very welcome!) would be great, or perhaps just Blackwall being protective of Inky in a fight? Or Inky being protective of Blackwall!!

I usually play as female Adaar but I don't mind other backstories for the Inquisitor, either.

III. Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes. Requested relationship: Joseph Bell & Arthur Conan Doyle (Murder Rooms).
Requested freeforms:
Take me instead, Awkward and Unconventional Gestures of Friendship, A defends B/argues on B's behalf, Gift Giving, Gratuitous descriptions of hugging, Hanging Out Drinking Tea, Case Fic, Hurt/Comfort - Character Doesn't Expect Tenderness But Gets It Anyway, Intelligent Characters Enthusing Over Learning New Things (Especially From Each Other)

Fandom-specific DNWs: none.

It's a brOTP I've had for close to a decade now and I request it in practically every exchange. I'm a simple person and I'll love anything you'll write/draw for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ With their ridiculous levels of repression, angst, and mutual affection, Bell and Doyle are my everything. At the moment I'm in the mood for angsty BAMF protectiveness between them (as evidenced by "Take me instead" and "A defends B/argues on B's behalf"). I'd be happy with either of them being protective of the other. And I'm always, always in the mood for stuff like hugs, tea, gifts, hurt/comfort, and intellectual conversations!! <3

Art-wise, Gratuitous Victorian Symbolism is my craving of choice. Just include convoluted flower symbolism or a Gothic landscape or ten or something equally overwrought.
I'm a sucker for the stuff.

IV. Original Work. Requested relationship: Hero-Worshipping Young Person & Their Mentor
Requested freeforms
: Becoming an Accidental Father Figure, Awkward and Unconventional Gestures of Friendship, A defends B/argues on B's behalf, Gift Giving, Gratuitous descriptions of hugging, Hanging Out Drinking Tea, Case Fic, Hurt/Comfort - Character Doesn't Expect Tenderness But Gets It Anyway, Intelligent Characters Enthusing Over Learning New Things (Especially From Each Other), Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Epic Friendship Slowburn, Families of Choice, Angst, Angst With a Happy Ending, Platonic Soulmates, accidental platonic soulbond

Fandom-specific DNWs: none.

Any era, any world, any genders! I just adore the idea of a younger character being absolutely all over the place about their mentor figure. By "younger character" I don't mean "literally a small child", although they can be a child at some point in the story as long as they then grow up? I guess I'm just interested in mentorship specifically more than pure parenting.

Take any of my freeforms, look at my likes, and go to town. This premise is my magic bullet.

As regards the mentor character, I also like them quite angsty/repressed and having issues understanding what the younger character sees in them. Or thinking that being friends with them is bad for the younger character (for whatever reason - their profession is dangerous, they think of themselves as a bad person due to some past trauma, etc) and angsting over that.

Mutual angst and relationship insecurity ftw.

Dear Yuletide writer,

thank you for offering one of my fandoms, and I hope you have a beautiful Yuletide <3 I'm really buzzing with excitement for this one. There are so many things I can't wait to write, read, and/or comment on!
  • My AO3 handle is plumedy. Some bits of this letter will be copied, with some minor adjustments, from the DYW letters I wrote in the past; other bits will be entirely new
  • DNW: porn. I define this as sex that's not happening for plot reasons. Sex happening for plot reasons is okay. Characters having sexual thoughts as a part of their characterization (e.g. to denote their orientation, or wrt sexual trauma) is fine.
Other than that, go wild. Mental illness, physical illness, self-harm, gore, noncon (as long as it abides by the aforementioned DNW), abuse, trauma are all acceptable topics.

  • Specific opt-ins (not necessarily things I specifically want - rather, these are things that you're free to include): crossovers (as long as they're with fandoms I know); identity headcanons, including trans, nb, ace and others; graphic harm to animals and animal death; in-universe bigotry (i.e. characters being racist or homophobic or antisemitic, as long as they're clearly written as being in the wrong. This is largely about OCs since for most of my requested characters, that won't be IC, but e.g. for some like Cream it definitely is IC.)
  • Likes: intense. Platonic. Relationships. I'm just incredibly into people of any gender loving each other platonically.
I'm not necessarily allergic to romance, but I'm not keen on it being the centre of attention. The general rule of thumb is that you may include romantic subplots (any gender combinations are welcome) as long as the main plot revolves around a platonic relationship. I do enjoy identity exploration and characters affirming each other's feelings, so in fanfic, feel free to e.g. make character A gay and center the story around B supporting them and helping them feel good about that.

I love fluff and angst, and hurt/comfort (either emotional or physical) makes me fall to the floor and roll around. I love it when characters try not to be obvious about their feelings for each other but fail!! I have such a thing for stiff upper lip (that eventually results in an epic breakdown or ten). All my canons are full of people who desperately need to hug each other but are prevented from doing so by social conventions, hierarchy, or straight up shame 8_8 And the resulting angst is so delicious.

In addition to that, I enjoy extreme expressions of love (whether in the characters' inner thoughts or openly to each other). You may choose to use the more healthy ones (e.g. about how much they mean to each other and the fact that they're each other's adoptive family) or the less healthy ones (e.g. that they're pretty much willing to literally murder/die/sell their immortal soul for each other). Both are great!

Also, awkwardness, especially for characters who are not great at expressing emotion. Just being awkward and clueless and self-conscious about it, LOL.

My misc interests include music (classical, but I also like other kinds), historical fashion, art, horror, human anatomy (this being my degree path), botany and zoology, and a bunch of other things. Generally, if you'd like to include something nerdy, artsy, or sciencey into your work, do not hesitate :D But it is by no means a requirement.

I love canon setting fic and AU fic about equally. Fantasy, mundane, historical, canon divergence, magical realism, daemons - go to town. Elements of supernatural are perfectly welcome! I mentioned horror as my general interest above; that means that I will also enjoy horror tropes in fic even if the original canon doesn't belong to the genre. That goes double for canons that do actually have horror tropes in them (such as Murder Rooms and Planescape: Torment).

My requests (not in order of importance, I love them equally):

1. Planescape: Torment. Requested characters: Fall-from-Grace, Dak'kon the Pariah, Morte, and The Nameless One.

- I have a huge weakness for Grace's friendship with Dak'kon. A couple of Yuletides ago I wrote a fic about them and that may have made me fall into a distinctly Dak'kon & Grace-shaped hole. They're just so... repressed... and so fond of each other... Well, if you've read my likes and/or any of my other letters, you know where this is going. I want them to platonically Love each other.

When it comes to Grace and Dak'kon, I'm really delighted by the idea that Dak'kon is one of the few people around Grace who don't think about her sexually or romantically, at all, and yet love her. It just doesn't occur to him at all. He loves her so much but not in that way. I think it must make Grace very happy, considering that she's a succubus. I'd love to see exploration of her maybe questioning his affection and thinking that he might be non-platonically attracted to her, only to be stunned to find out that he sees her as one of his closest friends.

And when it comes to physical gestures of platonic affection, there's so much here that can be explored. Grace letting him handle her wings - maybe because they're injured, or just because they need grooming and it's difficult for her to do it on her own. Dak'kon entrusting her with the Circle of Zerthimon. Them using their respective powers to protect each other and keep each other safe, especially if these powers are something they wouldn't use for any other purpose!! Just them being very Protective of each other and deeply understanding of each other's suffering.

Maybe they can never fully undo what was done to them, but their unique friendship can make it that much more bearable <3 <3

- Morte and the Nameless One were my baby's first brOTP when I played Planescape!! The extent to which Morte is loyal to TNO even despite being, let's admit it, a coward with questionable morals (I say this very lovingly) makes me happy. And obviously the canon talks about his immense sense of guilt binding him to TNO the way the other companions' suffering binds them, but I think there's more to it than that. I think in TNO's kinder incarnations, they're pretty close, or as close as a flying skull can be to a decaying undead dude. And in TNO's more fucked up incarnations, they're also close but in a toxic way.

The way my Neutral Good TNO kept banging on about his friends in the Fortress of Regrets really got to me, too. He and the Transcendent One were like, "bow before me, pathetic creature," - "don't touch my companions!" - "I didn't even say anything about your companions..." - "they're my friends!" - "yeah well not for long, I plan on-" - "mY cOmPaNiOnS" :'D

He loves them, okay <3 He loves Morte ✿♥‿♥✿

There are just so many complex feelings here and I'd love to see them explored. The bit in my likes that refers to emotional awkwardness is definitely applicable here. TNO and Morte wouldn't know how to express mutual affection and respect in a normal way if it came with an instruction manual.

My preference is generally for Good or Neutral TNO who's specifically nice to his friends, although other alignments and incarnations can be brought up, too.

2. Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes. Requested characters: Arthur Conan Doyle and Joseph Bell. Optional characters: Samuel Fergusson is in the tagset, but also feel free to include literally anyone else from the series.

First of all, honestly, I'll read anything in this fandom. If you want to ODAO, that wouldn't be a problem at all. Write whatever the hell you want, I'll be overjoyed in any event. But if you want specific prompts, here's a list of some ideas:

- Who the fuck is Samuel Fergusson? How's he the only one who gets to call Bell by his first name, and yet we hardly know anything about their relationship? They must've met when Bell was younger, and the prospect of learning more about Young and Vulnerable Bell is just so appealing to me. I love it when Bell is vulnerable. He's such a stoic, he deserves some warmth and comfort for everything he's gone through. What does Samuel Fergusson know about him? When did they switch to first-name basis? Will Bell's adopted son Arthur Doyle ever find out??

I mean, he has to find out, really... Otherwise who will give Bell the hugs he clearly needs?

Casefic welcome but by no means a requirement!

- AUs!! Wingfic! Platonic soulmates! Daemons (I am also an HDM fan)! I would adore any of that. I got a few AU fics for Rooms in Yuletides past and loved them hell out of them. I have such a weakness for Emotions Manifesting Through Magic (where Magic can be wings, or daemons, or soulbonds). Or just for characters doing their thing in different settings, not necessarily magical. Steampunk! Noir! Hell, if you want to write a mundane AU or a coffee shop AU, go to town!! I want to know everything about Bell's coffee preferences!

- When I was writing the bit in my general likes that pertains to sexual orientations, it also occurred to me that I'd actually be pleased to read something like this about Rooms. I mean, I think Bell hasn't been attracted to anyone else since he'd met Edith, but Doyle could well be bi and I feel like that would be a cool idea to explore. Him feeling anxious about that, what with this being the Victorian era, and Bell being supportive ^--^ If you choose to do this, though, please don't make it too depressing, because Doyle deserves some happiness romantic relationships-wise.

If you don't want to write, like, an Identity Exploration thing, you're also absolutely free to just make Doyle Casually Bi in a story that's not about his bisexuality. It'd make me happy!

For the purposes of this prompt, sexual fantasies and conversations, as well as sex scenes, are fine to include as long as the friendship is equally centered. I'm still not looking for a PWP but sexual content is fine and appropriate here.

- Something taking place post-canon! I'm big mad that the show was cancelled, so I want to know all about them meeting again and their friendship evolving further <3 <3 <3

3. Christmas Cottage (Thomas Kinkade painting). Requested characters: none.

Right. So, for this fandom, disregard what I said about wanting my gifts to be focussed on a relationship between two characters. I mean, if you want to introduce an OC protag and their BFF being adorable with each other, I'll love that, but that's not the focus of the prompt. The reason I'm requesting this is because I saw someone's genius observation about how Kinkade's (endearingly awful) paintings always feature houses that look like they're on fire from the inside due to him overdoing it with the lighting.

As a horror fan, I got an immense kick out of this observation and immediately decided that I would request Christmas Cottage for Yuletide.

So what I want for this fandom is a Kinkade painting being haunted or coming to life. Or perhaps not even anything that explicitly magical - the owner could just notice a increasing amount of disturbing details in the painting that seem to gradually reveal themselves.

Maybe the house is actually on fire and tormented screams faintly echo in the surrounding landscape. Or perhaps the house is a portal to Hell. Or perhaps it's alive and the fic is written from its POV. I know two things: I want it to be horror, and I want it to be disturbing. The exact extent to which it's disturbing is up to you, dear writer.

4. Monday Begins on Saturday, Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. Requested characters: Aleksandr Privalov and Roman Oira-Oira. Optionally: Fyodor Simeonovich Kivrin.

Full disclosure: I'm an Eastern European (not wholly Russian, but Russian among other things) who spent most of her life in the region. I really adore the Strugatskys, and Monday Begins on Saturday holds a special place in my heart. It's just so warm and funny and sadly hopeful. And it reflects the nature of academia in EE so well, with all its Vybegallos and its bureaucracy and its lack of proper organization and at the same time, its spirit of genuine scientific passion :D

It also contains a lot of Classic Mentor-Protege friendships <3 <3 I'm very weak for these, ever since I first read Bulgakov's Heart of a Dog as a child. There's just something about a more academically experienced person befriending and nurturing a less academically experienced younger person that is extremely satisfying to me. Roman is so nice to and so protective of Sasha, especially in the final showdown!! And Kivrin! Kivrin is such a warm quasi-parental figure to all of them ;__;

I'm not even particularly sure what I want for this fandom. Perhaps a casefic? Not necessarily epic and long, it can just be a brief exploration of a magical problem they encounter. Perhaps someone's life is in danger and someone else protects them! I can just imagine Oira-Oira being incredibly badass. Or Sasha being very brave and looking pretty stupid while doing that.

Or pehraps it's not a life-threatening problem at all! Perhaps they're just trying to solve a complex issue. And Sasha comes up with some great idea and Oira-Oira and/or Kivrin are super proud of him.

Or, or, in the best traditions of Russian literature and Russian life... perhaps it's just characters sitting in a kitchen, drinking tea from faceted glasses, and having an interminable conversation about politics and personal feelings <3 <3 <3 X) "Bear in the North" chocolates optional (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ru/c/c5/Mishka_na_severe_Big.jpg).

5. Murder Rooms (Book Series) - David Pirie. Requested characters: Joseph Bell, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Thomas Neill Cream.

I have a few ideas!! Pls read and choose whatever you want! Or ODAO and write me something completely different!

- Doyle just having massive PTSD/emotional issues in the aftermath of being captured by Cream (or in the aftermath of any Cream-related episode, honestly - it's all so traumatizing for poor Doyle), and Bell being the only one who can help and make him feel better and like he could actually heal from this someday. Maybe there's only emotional stuff involved; maybe it's about the physical torture, or maybe something noncon-flavoured occurred between Cream and Doyle (not necessarily outright rape, sexual assault/hints/general sleaziness also work). Either way, Suffering and Hurt/Comfort ensue!!

For the purpose of this prompt, it's fine to make a lot of things in the story sexual in nature and to include sexual aspects in flashbacks and conversations, as long as they're treated as clearly traumatizing.

- (not necessarily featuring Cream) Just any moment of emotional closeness where these two utter morons realize how much they care about each other. I love them so much, but I swear to g-d their friendship is the most interminable platonic slow-burn to ever grace this earth,,,

Feel free to borrow from/remix/spoof a Canon story, as is traditional for Murder Rooms :D

- (also not necessarily featuring Cream) On that note, I'll love anything that plays with a Canon story in-universe. How did something get written? What were the characters' reactions? What does Bell think of "his" portrayal as Holmes? How does Doyle feel about writing what is essentially iddy self-insert fanfic about Bell? XD Some of my favourite stories are BLUE, COPP, and HOUN. And, of course, 3GAR is a classic and there's a whole tradition of remixing it in Holmesian fandoms, so I'll always be delighted by a 3GAR exploration...

- In one of previous exchanges, I requested the freeform "Aftermath Of One Character Discovering That the Other Wouldn't Sacrifice Them For the Greater Good". I really want a confrontation over the fact that even though they swore to capture or kill Neill at any cost, neither of them is actually willing to sacrifice the other for that purpose. And one of them trying to give their life for the Greater Good (be it removing Neill or dealing with another similarly overwhelming threat) would make the other have a total ugly meltdown. Like, Doyle has always known one of them might die, but when he thinks Bell actually died, he loses his shit. And Bell says his life would be "unendurable" if Doyle got killed by one of Neill's surprises. They think they're SO prepared for this, but they're just. Really Not, lol. And I can just imagine them furiously shouting at each other, "so what, he gets to live?!" - "yes, if that means you live!"

It's just darkly hilarious to me that when they go, "yeah, we're totally prepared to die for this", what each of them actually means is "I will die for this so that he may live".
dreemyweird: (Default)
Dear Darkest Night creator,

my AO3 handle is plumedy. A lot of my prompts from previous years may give the impression that I'm primarily a happiness- and fluff-loving fan, but there is a reason I'm participating in this year's Darkest Night; that reason is that there are some pretty dark premises I could eat with a spoon.

The general summary of my likes from previous years' letters applies, but I'm going to write it a bit differently this time to reflect the theme of this exchange.

I'm here for intense platonic relationships of all kinds - specifically, for relationships where the characters could die, kill, or sell their immortal souls for each other. And they're incredibly repressed about it and ashamed of feeling this way, but all they really want is to cling onto each other and never let go. So they totally break down in front of each other eventually. And maybe they kind of know it's unhealthy, but they're completely unwilling to contemplate the idea of not being this way because they'd rather die :>

The backgrounds to these relationships can vary a lot - one of my favourite variations, for example, is when a character has lost a parent (or another loved one) and now they see the other character as their adopted family. Even better if they love the "surrogate" more than they loved the original and feel super guilty about that! >:) Another variation I'm a big fan of is Only You Can Understand Me, where two characters go through a unique traumatic experience and are forever bonded by it <3 But really, you could probably come up with a hundred different emotional backstories and I'd love all of them.

I love it when there's a social and/or hierarchical gap between the characters that's impossible to fully overcome. One is a teacher and the other is their student, or they belong to different military ranks, or one is a renowned specialist and the other is a nobody. You get the idea. Especially if this gap makes platonic physical contact somehow socially inappropriate or awkward! Or if expressions of platonic affection are made difficult/misconstrued as expressions of professional or social admiration!! That is nice. <333 And then there's a lot of resulting angst! So much angst.
  • My only DNW is porn (as in, lengthy descriptions of sex written for their own sake - sex as such I don't mind; sex in art is off-limits, though). Otherwise, knock yourself out. Self-harm, abuse, extreme violence, torture, mental illness, physical illnesses - I'm happy to see any of it in my gift.

As I mention in my other letters, background romance (any gender combinations) is not off-limits - if you feel it adds to characterization or enhances the angst, do feel free to introduce it.
  • I don't have a preference when it comes to endings - they can be anything from quite bleak to quite hopeful and uplifting. Surprise me :)

AUs of any kind are grand. Fantasy, mundane, historical, canon divergence, magical realism, daemons - go to town. Elements of supernatural are perfectly welcome! I mentioned horror as my general interest above; that means that I will also enjoy horror tropes and plots in fic and art even if the original canon doesn't belong to the genre.

As regards my particular requests:
  • 1. Original Work. Relationship: Victorian Person & Their Younger Friend. Freeform tags: Emotional repression induced by social distance; Character whose parents are abusive/dead wishes another character were their parent.
I'M REALLY EXCITED FOR MY FIRST EXCHANGE ORIGFIC PROMPT OKAY.

By "younger" I don't really mean "a literal child", although if they meet for the first time when the younger person is just a kid, that's perfectly fine! I just want them to grow up at some point.

By "Victorian" I do mean "living in the British Empire", but not necessarily "English". They could be from England, but they could also be from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, or from one of the British colonies.

Any gender combinations are welcome for this prompt. I'll be thrilled with an older Victorian woman & a younger girl, or with an uptight Victorian gentleman adopting a female street urchin, or with two men, or an older woman and a younger man.

Fic
: Pretty much what it says on the tin. Pick one of the tags, combine it with the characters, and write something. And by something I mean a highly codependent Victorian friendship!

Emotional repression induced by social distance: A friendship where the character(s) want to express their affection for each other more than anything but can only do it under the most fucked up of circumstances because otherwise Social Norms Prevent It. The affection should be mutual, but it's entirely possible one or both of them think it's not (or not entirely) - because of the aforementioned social norms, of course >:) And they don't have to find out until something super messed up happens to one or both of them!!

Character whose parents are abusive/dead wishes another character were their parent: self-explanatory. The younger character has no family/a very fucked up family, and all they really want is for the older character to be their family instead. It's possible the older character lost someone, too. And the older character may even feel the same, but there's no undoing the years of suffering and loneliness the character(s) have gone through. The grief will always be there. This can have a somewhat hopeful ending, though.

Art: anything that uses dark Victorian or Victorian Gothic imagery while portraying the characters as physically close. You can depict something bad happening to one or both of them (illness! death! horrible injury!), or you can just depict them as clinging to each other's hands or clothes/standing side by side with their arms linked and preparing to kick some monster ass/hugging out of grief or despair, possibly due to the other's injuries or illness/looking angstily away while holding onto each other. Either way, I'll be thrilled :D
  • 2. Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes. Relationship: Joseph Bell & Arthur Conan Doyle.

Fanfic: The freeform tags for this, and the corresponding prompts, are as follows:

- Forced to hurt someone in order to protect them from something worse.
Exactly what it says, and you can interpret it quite literally if you want. I've always wanted a fic about someone evil forcing one of them (preferably Doyle >:)) to hurt the other physically in order to spare them from e.g. death. There's something about the pain of having to harm a loved one for their own good that I find particularly delightful. Of course, Doyle apologizes all the way and feels the worst he's ever felt in his life.

Other interpretations are also welcome, emotional hurt included!!

- Character feels guilty for loving a parental figure more than they love their actual parents.
Pretty much canonically Doyle's problem. I'd like that elaborated upon. I love how unwaveringly loyal he is to Bell even though it's Socially Wrong, considering he has an actual father. He probably feels horribly guilty about it but ultimately entirely unremorseful in the sense that he'd never have it otherwise. And I love that.

This trope can be combined with Character whose parents are abusive/dead wishes another character were their parent.

I don't think Doyle's father is necessarily abusive in the canon, but I don't mind this interpretation. It adds more angst!

  • 3. Murder Rooms (Book Series) - David Pirie. Characters: Joseph Bell, Arthur Conan Doyle, optionally Thomas Neill Cream. Freeform tags: Aftermath Of One Character Finding Out Other Character Wouldn't Sacrifice Them For The Greater Good; Almost Died.

Fanfic: Anyway. This. This is what I live for. I just want a confrontation over the fact that even though they swore to capture or kill Neill at any cost, neither of them is actually willing to sacrifice the other for that purpose.

In the end I guess they'll just have to accept defeat and survive together, even if that means compromising their chances of preventing the deaths of other innocent people.

4. Les Misérables - Schönberg/Boublil. Relationship: Javert & Jean Valjean.

I'm a big fan of the Javert & Jean Valjean relationship as a frenemy dynamic. And I think they could really come to love each other in a Javert lives AU where Valjean befriends him, so that's nice, too. And I just find it beautiful that them being close friends and loving each other really wouldn't solve most of their self-hatred and feelings of inferiority problems, lol.

The freeform tags and the corresponding prompts for this are as follows:

- Alternate Universe - Star Wars Sith.
Valjean would be the Jedi-est Jedi to ever Jedi, of course. And Javert would be a Fallen Jedi. But would he even know that he fell?

-
Body Switch - forced by one character onto another.
"You know nothing of Javert". Forced by Javert onto Valjean, of course. Goes not at all how Javert expected and really fucks him up. How the possibility of body switches occurs is entirely up to you. Maybe that's something Javert wishes so hard would happen that God just decides to grant him his wish.

- Character Is Dead & Doesn’t Know It.
Javert, before inevitably being kindly informed of his unfortunate state by Valjean. Either because Valjean has died himself or because their bond lets Valjean see him anyway. Set in the canonical timeline, probably, where Javert does die in the Seine.

Dear FGE author,

I hope you have a great time participating in this exchange <3 Being focused on tiny to non-existent fandoms, FGE is, I think, particularly important to many of its participants. It's a rare and wonderful occasion when you get to gift and receive works in the rare fandoms of your heart! So I am very excited for every step of it, of which writing this letter is the first.
  • I would be very happy with either art or fic for this exchange! Whichever suits you best :D This general information about me and my tastes is copied, with some minor amendments, from my last Yuletide letter. It applies to both art and fic:

My AO3 handle is plumedy, and I'm here for intense platonic relationships between characters of any gender ^-^ I'm not necessarily allergic to romance, but I'm not keen on it being the centre of attention. The general rule of thumb is that you may include romantic subplots/themes (any gender combinations are welcome) as long as the main plot/art theme revolves around a platonic relationship. I do enjoy identity exploration and characters affirming each other's identities (including sexual, gender, ethnic, and cultural identities), so in fanfic, feel free to e.g. make character A gay and center the story around B supporting them and helping them feel good about that. In fanart, any identity portrayals and symbols are also welcome!

For fanart, this could involve portraying different types of situations - darker ones could lend themselves better to portraying codependency, for example.
  • I don't have any particular DNWs except for porn - gore, violence, depictions of abuse and other trauma etc. are fine - and I welcome fanfic of any length and fanart of any style and level of detail.

AUs of any kind are grand. Fantasy, mundane, historical, canon divergence, magical realism, daemons - go to town. Elements of supernatural are perfectly welcome! I mentioned horror as my general interest above; that means that I will also enjoy horror tropes in fic and art even if the original canon doesn't belong to the genre. That goes double for canons that do actually have horror tropes in them (such as Murder Rooms and Planescape: Torment).

Now on to my fandom-specific requests.

  • 1. Star Wars Legends: Jedi Knight (Video Games). By this I primarily mean Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy (which I only played recently but already love with all my heart), although inclusion of any elements from the previous games is also perfectly welcome.

Relationship: Kyle Katarn & Jan Ors. Optionally, feel free to include Kyle Katarn & Jaden Korr and Kyle Katarn & Luke Skywalker; I'm quite fond of these, too. My Jaden is female, but that's not a requirement.

Fanfic: ANYWAY I really fucking love Kyle's relationship with Jan, but specifically as a friendship. Their romance was okay, but I prefer to ignore it. All I really want is for them to be BFFs who love and care about each other deeply. Deeply. Kyle's suffering when he thought Jan was dead really hit my id, so I'd maybe like to see some more exploration of that.

Maybe on the next mission he thinks she's in danger and gets really jittery, and she has to calm him down by hugging him a lot. And he could also suffer because he's a Tough Guy who isn't supposed to show affection, especially not platonic affection, but he really really wants to. I'd love that. And the whole Jedi angle could add to that. Like, I definitely think Jan is a big part of why Kyle isn't ever a ""proper"" Jedi - how could he renounce his attachment to her? Their bond is too strong and they suffered too much to let go of each other.

They banter with each other so much, and they're both so outwardly tough and unaffected by anything. I just want the depth of love behind this facade explored. I want them to totally break down and show each other as much affection as possible, even as they feel ashamed of being so open and insecure about whether their feelings are mutual! I mean, they never really talk about what they feel for each other - how could they know that they both feel equal affection towards each other? This seems like a great excuse to make them super insecure about it! I love platonic insecurity 。.:☆*:・'(*⌒―⌒*)))

Kyle's relationship with Luke is also one that gives me warm fuzzies a lot. Kyle is so loyal to Luke despite his constant lighthearted mockery of Luke's seriousness ("you always feel a disturbance in the Force", LOL). And I think Luke knows a lot about how Kyle feels and thinks, even when Kyle wants to put on a metaphorical mask. Luke doesn't have to use the Force to read Kyle's mind to know him because
Kyle is kind of an open book to him anyway. Except for the depth of Kyle's friendship towards Luke, of course. Luke's too humble to recognize it :D

And Jaden being kind of Kyle's adopted kid is really adorable. He and Luke are totally their dads. I d'awwed at how warm Kyle was towards them at the end of JA (well, given a light-sided playthrough, of course). I bet they have some kind of tragic backstory that makes their relationship with Kyle and Luke especially poignant for them!

I'm also a huge nerd when it comes to Star Wars lore and I love all the worldbuilding and the botany and the zoology of Star Wars, so if you want to add any details about SW animals or plants or scientific concepts, I'd love that, too.

Fanart: hugs. All of them. Or Kyle and Jan defending and protecting each other. However you want to interpret that. It can be defense from danger in the heat of battle, or it can be defense from the rain when out on a walk. Or it can be defense from the acidic rain from JA :D Alternatively/in addition: yes, any and all background elements of SW worldbuilding would make me very happy. Like, if you want to draw Kyle and Jan riding a tame rancor or partaking of traditional Wookie cuisine... I would be chuffed.

Or you could draw Kyle, Jan, Luke, and Jaden as a found family! Two dads and a mom is totally what a lonely mysterious Jedi kid needs!

  • 2. Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes. Optional relationships: Arthur Conan Doyle & Joseph Bell, Arthur Conan Doyle & Joseph Bell & Samuel Fergusson.

Fanfic:
First of all, honestly, I'll read anything in this fandom. If you want to ODAO, that wouldn't be a problem at all. Write whatever the hell you want, I'll be overjoyed in any event. But if you want one specific prompt, my primary question would be: who the fuck is Samuel Fergusson?

For another specific prompt, I can suggest this: when I was writing the bit in my general likes that pertains to sexual orientations, it also occurred to me that I'd actually be pleased to read something like this about Rooms.

Fanart: alllll the Victorian symbolism. I can never have enough. Just stuff your work full of Victorian symbols for friendship, loyalty, and familial love, and I'll be a happy camper. Or just portray them being super affectionate towards each other. In whatever way you want! One of them nursing the other during an illness? Awesome <3 <3 One giving the other a gift? Amazing!! Bi Doyle and his boyfriend visiting Bell? Yes!! Bell and Doyle tearing up from sheer affection for each other? Yes please!!

Really, the main thing I want to say about Murder Rooms is that I love this canon so much and it was so formative to me that it's impossible to disappoint me when writing a Rooms fic or drawing Rooms art.

  • 3. Murder Rooms (book series) - David Pirie. Relationships: Arthur Conan Doyle & Joseph Bell.

Fanfic
: The books are so deliciously, terribly dark. I love them and I hate them for putting me through all this pain! Reading the kind of heavy Gothic angst they're about is a kind of painful joy. All the h/c opportunities that were briefly touched on but never fully explored drive me positively mad. I get it, I get it, this relationship is complicated, but they love each other just as much as the show version. Can't they get even a moment of openness and honesty? After Bell tries to kill Macandrew? After Doyle escapes a situation when he was fucking kidnapped and drugged by their archenemy? After their version of Reichenbach? How are they not falling into each other's arms for comfort yet? >:(

I love their repression so much and at the same time I just want them to be unable to keep up the facade anymore and to break down even despite the shame and guilt they'd undoubtedly feel about that. C'mon! Doyle was distraught to the point of being suicidal when he thought Bell was dead! Bell basically attempted to sacrifice himself to save Doyle! Can't they... just... TALK when this is the kind of love they feel for each other?
I mean, I think their main problem is just that they have completely different love languages and a completely different understanding of what it means to show affection. But I wish someone or something fucking translated for them so that they'd understand each other even for a minute.

Fanart: again, all the Victorian symbolism (although probably darker than for the show version, considering how incredibly Gothic these books are). But also, I just want them clinging onto each other like hell. Just totally losing it because they're each other's only salvation. Go on, artist, destroy me. These idiots have needed to physically cling onto each other for the past 453.5 years.

  • 4. Planescape: Torment. Relationship: Fall-From-Grace & Dak'kon the Pariah.

Fanfic: Last Yuletide I wrote a fic about them and that may have made me fall into a distinctly Dak'kon & Grace-shaped hole. They're just so... repressed... and so fond of each other... Well, if you've read my likes and/or any of my other requests, you know where this is going.

I think it must make Grace very happy.

Fanart: see the fanfic section on the subject of physical affection. That. All of that. Let Dak'kon groom Grace's wings 2k19 tbh

Dear Yuletide Writer,

writing Yuletide letters is such an autumn-y activity in my mind, and it always makes me feel great. It's like yellowing leaves and spicy hot chocolate. This autumn I'm in an especially good mood, and I hope I can share a little of that good mood with you.

My general likes and dislikes haven't changed much over the years, so I will make some minor amendments to my 2017 summary of them and paste the result here.

My AO3 handle is plumedy, and I'm here for intense platonic relationships between characters of any gender ^-^ I'm not necessarily allergic to romance, but I'm not keen on it being the centre of attention. The general rule of thumb is that you may include romantic subplots (any gender combinations are welcome) as long as the main plot revolves around a platonic relationship. I do enjoy identity exploration and characters affirming each other's identities (including sexual, gender, ethnic, and cultural identities), so feel free to e.g. make character A gay and center the story around B supporting them and helping them feel good about that.

I don't have any particular DNWs except for porn - gore, violence, descriptions of abuse and other trauma etc. are fine - and I welcome fanfic of any length. Don't feel like you have to write a story over or under a certain wordcount.

AUs of any kind are grand. Fantasy, historical, canon divergence, magical realism, daemons - go to town.

My specific requests are as follows:

1. The Fugitive (1993). Requested characters: Richard Kimble and Samuel Gerard.

Generally, I will absolutely love anything that explores a forming friendship between Kimble and Gerard. If you want to write a daemon AU horror set in the 1890s, knock yourself out.

But in case you're interested in a more specific prompt, a friend of mine and I came up with the headcanon that post-canon, Kimble eventually comes to join Gerard's department as a consulting specialist. Does he have forensic pathology training? Or maybe some other forensics-related educational background? Does he get a new speciality specifically for the purpose of working in forensics? I'll leave the decision to you.

Criticisms of the USMS and the American justice and prison system are very welcome (especially since that's also a big part of the movie's narrative). I feel like Gerard may definitely have doubts about his work after what happened, maybe even to the point of considering resigning from his position. In fact, if you can't see Kimble working with Gerard, feel free to write about Gerard resigning and forming a civilian kind of friendship with Kimble instead (I personally enjoy the idea of these two scenarios equally; I do think that in-universe, the USMS is definitely not irredeemable and Kimble may well feel like he could do a bit of good there, but I'd also be very happy to see Gerard having a personal crisis and changing his life while becoming friends with Kimble).

Kimble having PTSD and Gerard feeling guilty/weird about that would be great. And Gerard awkwardly doing his best to comfort Kimble/make him feel safe!

If they start working together, write about them actually coming to know each other. Imagine the sense of disconnect they experience! It must be weird for both of them to find out how similar or different the other is from the images they formed of each other during the chase.

On a fluffier note, I think Gerard's sense of style is superb and I want all his clothes for myself. OTOH, Kimble clearly can't dress (or make good facial hair choices) to save his life. So I feel like they'd have some interactions where Gerard tries to gently steer Kimble in the correct direction re:fashion :D

2. Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes. Requested characters: Joseph Bell and Arthur Conan Doyle. Optional characters: Innes Doyle, Daniel Blaney, basically anyone else from the series. I love all of them.

This is another canon you may write more or less anything for. I just love it that much. If you decided to write a story about a singular cobblestone from a street in Victorian Edinburgh, I'd be happy.

Otherwise, I'm a huge (no, HUGE) fan of the Bell&Doyle friendship. It's the exact perfect mixture of angst and fluff I love. They make me feel all warm on the inside.

In terms of specific requests, I decided that this year I'd go for a bunch of different AU tropes. Wingfic? Daemons (I headcanon Doyle's daemon as a fox named Martha and Bell's as a magpie named Violet, but any other headcanons will also delight me)? Platonic soulmates, perhaps? Any of these would be great. If you do decide to write platonic soulmate fic, I'd love it if the bond didn't force them together and they could choose whether to submit to it or not. I want their decision to be soulmates to be one made freely, just because they love each other so much. Although I greatly welcome any exploration of insecurities resulting from the soulmate bond ("is he with me because he wants to be or because we're bonded?" >:D).

With these two, I enjoy extreme expressions of love (whether in their inner monologues or openly to each other). You may choose to use the more healthy ones (e.g. about how much they mean to each other and the fact that they're each other's adoptive family) or the less healthy ones (e.g. that they're pretty much willing to literally murder or die for each other). Both are great!

If you want to write an emotional arc, it can also be either on the healthier side (e.g.: they may start off as slightly codependent, but eventually they realize that they're friends not because they <i>need</i> to be but because they choose to be) or not (e.g.: they realize just how much fucked up shit they would do for each other's sake).

Casefic welcome but by no means a requirement!

When I was writing the bit in my general likes that pertains to sexual orientations, it also occurred to me that I'd actually be pleased to read something like this about Rooms.

3. Planescape: Torment. Requested characters: The Nameless One and Morte. Optional characters: pretty much anyone else because they're all superb, although I'm personally quite indifferent towards Ignus.

Anything about TNO and Morte! I'd like TNO to be in one of his more compassionate, kind, non-fucked up incarnations, and I'd like them to have a friendship that's complicated but ultimately healthy rather than not. Morte's guilt is definitely still a factor, but not the only reason he's with TNO.

Specific prompts: a canon wrap-up, maybe? Does Morte go looking for TNO? What happens when they find each other? Does TNO die forever eventually? Maybe after his contract in the Blood War is up but before he dies for good, he gets to have one more incarnation in which his life is actually good and non-fucked up. And he knows that he'll die and he's at peace with that, finally. Maybe he understands now why his first incarnation wanted immortality but he doesn't want that.

For that matter, does Morte die? Maybe now that TNO can die, so can he - without going back to the Pillar. And they have a kind of moment of peace and friendship together before being able to let go of this world for good. And in the end, Morte doesn't have to feel guilty anymore!

Feel free to have Morte muck about with other characters before finding TNO - I had someone suggest to me that he'd go to Grace, and I approve of that idea. I feel they have a lot they could talk about.

I only played this game a few months ago, but I love it a lot. It's unlike anything else. I'm just very attracted to this concept of a being who's committed a lot of really horrible things but who's currently not the same person they were when they did that. And I really want peace and just a little bit of happiness for TNO before the end.

Dear Yuletide writer,

my AO3 handle is plumedy, and I'm here for intense platonic relationships between characters of any gender ^-^ I'm not necessarily allergic to romance - hence e.g. my nominating some married couples this Yuletide - but I'm not keen on it being the centre of attention.

I love fluff and angst, and hurt/comfort (either emotional or physical) makes me fall to the floor and roll around. I love it when characters try not to be obvious about their feelings for each other but fail!! I have such a thing for stiff upper lip. All my canons are full of people who desperately need to hug each other but are prevented from doing so by social conventions, hierarchy, or straight up shame 8_8 And the resulting angst is so delicious.

I don't have any particular DNWs except for porn - gore, violence, etc. are fine - and I welcome fanfic of any length. Don't feel like you have to write a story over or under a certain wordcount.

My misc interests include music, historical fashion, art, horror, human anatomy (this being my degree path), botany and zoology, and a bunch of other things. Generally, if you'd like to include something nerdy, artsy, or sciencey into your work, do not hesitate :D But it is by no means a requirement.

AUs of any kind are grand. Fantasy, historical, canon divergence, magical realism, daemons - go to town. Elements of supernatural are perfectly welcome!

My specific requests are as follows:

1. Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes. Characters: Joseph Bell and Arthur Conan Doyle; inclusion of Daniel Blaney and/or Innes Doyle is more than welcome.

First of all, just know that pretty much anything written for this fandom will make me happy. Pretty much anything. That being said, if you'd like a particular idea, I've always wanted a post-canon reunion fanfic. I totally headcanon Bell's final words ("drive these memories from your mind") as an implicit offer for Doyle to forget him, and this provides potential for SO MUCH INSECURITY AND ANGST. AND THEN SO MUCH ANGSTY FLUFF. AND AWKWARD INTENSE INTERACTIONS LEADING TO THEM TOTALLY BREAKING DOWN. asjksfbewhgbfkr

If you want to include any elements of casefic into this, or straight-up write an unrelated casefic, I'd also be absolutely delighted. If you wish to borrow any elements of canon stories, my top favourites are The Copper Beeches, The Blue Carbuncle, The Hound, and, of course, The Three Garridebs :D

Feel free to add daemons (MURDER ROOMS+DAEMONS IS LOVE), or to make them investigate magical crimes, or to turn them into paranormal detectives!! Or anything!!

2. The King's Speech. Characters: Bertie Windsor, Lionel Logue, potentially Myrtle Logue and Elizabeth Windsor.

I LOVE BERTIE&LIONEL SO MUCH AND THEY BOTH HAVE SUCH LOVELY FAMILIES. And I've always thought it's such a shame that though Bertie and Lionel share this incredible bond that transcends social hierarchy, their worlds don't otherwise intersect much. Wouldn't it be awesome if Lionel's family and Bertie's felt, well, a little less separated? Maybe write a post-war thing where Elizabeth softens a bit and becomes less awkward in the Logues' company! And where Myrtle comes to see her and Bertie as people first and royalty second.

and also I want lots of awkward Lionel&Bertie fluff,,, Lionel trying to show Myrtle what he appreciates about Bertie and accidentally moving Bertie to tears ^-^ Bertie convincing Elizabeth to be friends with the Logues and waxing poetic about how good Lionel is to him!! Maybe Lionel doubting whether Bertie needs him post-war and Bertie trying to make sure that Lionel knows that he'll always need him <3

Feel free to realize this familial dynamics in any non-canonical settings or under any non-canonical circumstances. You could make them a team in a survival horror scenario, or a bunch of mages in a fantasy land - I'll eat it all with a spoon! I think this fandom is definitely in need of some good AUs. It'd be very interesting to see the power dynamics between the Logues and the Windsors explored from different angles after it's been transplanted into a different universe.

3. Back to the Future (the movies). Characters: Emmett "Doc" Brown, Marty McFly, Einstein the dog.

This is going to sound a bit strange, but can I have something Einie-centric (maybe Doc makes him his own portable time machine attached to his collar and he goes on temporal adventures...) or even from Einie's POV? I somehow friendship all three of them and would love to read about Einie's role in Doc's and Marty's lives and their relationship. Any dog owner knows how important a dog's presence in their life is, and how it sometimes brings new friends or strengthens existing bonds (e.g. if the other person is also a dog owner or loves dogs). I'm somehow sure Marty is a thoroughly dog person, otherwise he wouldn't have got on with Doc as well as he did.

ALSO EINIE FRIENDSHIPS THE HELL OUT OF THEM, OKAY. Well, maybe he's a little jealous sometimes. But he still sees how much happiness Marty brings to Doc and happy Doc=happy dog (I've wanted to make this absolutely atrocious pun from the second I started writing this prompt).

I'm familiar with and love the game canon, so any references to that that you'd like to add will work for me! On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of the comics, so I'd prefer to keep most of the comics storylines out of my gift.

If you need a source of angst for this, have Doc&Marty have a falling-out for some reason and Einie try anxiously to reconcile them :D Or have one of them be in mortal danger while the other has to save him with Einstein's help!! I love mortal danger->hurt/comfort storylines so much.

I have a great fondness for the Citizen Brown game storyline and for dystopian!Hill Valley in general (also for its Tannen-governed alternate version), so if you can somehow work Einstein into either of these timelines, you may also write something darker with Marty&Doc having a more angsty but still super deliciously intense friendship.

Dear Yuletide Writer,

just so you know, I am very happy to be writing this letter, and the thought that I'll be matched to you is super exciting. Someone else loves my tiny, tiny fandoms!! If you like hugs, here, have a huge one.

I hope you're having lots of fun with this Yuletide, and I'm sure you'll do amazingly. *hands you a virtual cup of hot chocolate*

Right. Let's see what my requests are.

First of all, my only general DNW is porn. You may be as dark as you wish; gore, violence, etc. don't bother me. I'll also be happy to receive fic of any length - from extremely short to extremely long.

Secondly, I love gen h/c and uneasy but strong friendships. Give me characters who are strongly drawn to each other but don't quite know how to express their feelings/are defensive or angsty about them/try to conceal them as best they can. AND THEN THEY DON'T SUCCEED AND THEY'RE A TOTAL MESS. Ahem. And fluff!! Uneasy, angsty fluff. Or plain sweet fluff after an angsty resolution. I'm not picky.

My AO3 username is plumedy and my requested fandoms are as follows (in no particular order):

1. The Armand Gamache book series by Louise Penny. Characters: Armand Gamache and Jean Guy Beauvoir.

I discovered it this summer and found the imagery superb, the characterization brilliant, and the iddiness of the emotional dynamics mind-boggling. LIKE SERIOUSLY, LOOK AT THESE TWO. Penny puts them in all sorts of dramatic situations for the only purpose of making Jean Guy think about how much he loves Gamache!! There is legitimately a scene where they're having A Moment while trapped in a burning house! I think I cried tears of joy over that.

I love, love, love the detailed, intelligent descriptions of nature and art in these books. I know and admire Clara's, Peter's, and Jane's paintings and the general landscape of Three Pines like I have seen and studied them in real life.

And all the diversity! And all the happy marriages! So unusual and so heartwarming.

Mostly, I want more h/c between Gamache and Jean Guy. I know their relationship issues were largely resolved in the third book; you may set the story during the first three books or give them new issues to deal with if you wish to :D Maybe Gamache needing comfort from Jean Guy after the Arnot case? Or Jean Guy generally failing to deal with his own stiff upper lip and going to the only person who's well aware of what is behind this facade?

Or maybe write silly Christmas angst? One or both of them failing to find suitable gifts for the other/being insecure about their gift ideas? Hahaha, I'd read the hell out of these awkward interactions.

I'm fond of pretty much everyone in this series, so feel free to add characters (yes, even Yvette Nichol, the insufferable little trainwreck).

2. Murder Rooms. Characters: Joseph Bell and Arthur Conan Doyle.

*shyly* Well, I have a whole tumblr tag worth of headcanons. http://thedarkbeginnings.tumblr.com/tagged/headcanons

Feel free to take any of these as a basis for a fic.

Also, maybe a reunion post-The White Knight Stratagem? I'd love to see their new slightly awkward emotional dynamics in the aftermath of Doyle virtually becoming Bell's equal!! You know, I totally headcanon Bell's final words ("drive these memories from your mind") as an implicit offer for Doyle to forget him, and this provides potential for SO MUCH INSECURITY AND ANGST. asdbdfhj

In general, I’m extremely fond of the awesome historical atmosphere of this series, its mild wistful humour, the Bell&Doyle “not-quite-father-and-son” dynamics, the angst - everything, I’m fond of everything. And then there are these incredibly intriguing possibilities that open when one considers the connections between Rooms and the Sherlock Holmes canon - just how truthful Doyle’s stories are? The Blue Carbuncle? The Dying Detective? The Three Garridebs?

3. The Graveyard Book. Characters: Nobody "Bod" Owens, Silas.

Bod has had a long and interesting life. He dies and is buried in the very same graveyard where he grew up! I can't believe this fic doesn't exist. I think I’ve wanted to read this ever since I finished the book. Bod’s parting with his parents and with Silas was too much for me to handle.

Alternatively, Silas’ past and what made him change who he was. I mean, it’s pretty clear he’s a vampire, but what kind of vampire? Were there others like him? Why the sudden idea to stop drinking human blood (which was presumably what he used to do)?

I bro-ship Silas&Bod like WHOA. This quasi-familial dynamics with an awkward, naturally somewhat cold father figure is so my jam. I just want them to hug,,,,, so much,, They love each other a lot, okay. And they're not the best at relationships but they try so hard *cries*

Things I love about this canon: its slightly childish tone (as Bod is the focal character); its sense of right and wrong; its imaginative worldbuilding, obviously; and how kind and understanding Gaiman always is to his characters :')
